It would seem that romantics are becoming a dying breed. The world is moving faster by the minute not giving many people much time to slow down and appreciate the beauty or question the twisted. And even in these times of forced isolation, we are only complying , buying and waiting. But no worries, they will sell us that peace of mind in some form or other. They will have prepared articles on every topic imaginable with an "argument" that you can order on line. Maybe its all in my head, there's a cure for that too.

Check out 'Get it right next time' and 'Wastin' away'. Also 'Stuck in the middle with you' by his previous band Steelers Wheel as used in Reservoir Dogs. Gerry is from Scotland and used the best session musicians around as his band for the albums around this time which is partly why the playing is so great. He wrote all of the music and lyrics though and had total control over the finished songs. Gone too soon from the effects of alcohol.

@@cyndir3039 … Joe Egan, his friend as a teenager and his co-founder of Stealers Wheel. They remained friends even when Stealers Wheel broke up - the big legal dispute was between Gerry and the recording company, who tried to dictate to Gerry what kind of music to write, and also tried to force him to go on hectic promotional touring - which he refused to do, just wanted to write his beautiful songs and sing them with his hand-picked group of musicians, and not to have to jump to the crack of the recording company’s whip! It took him three years to break the contract with the recording company, and during that awful period, Gerry had to travel between his home in Scotland and London for meetings with lawyers. During those times he stayed with a friend in Baker Street - and the song he wrote (“Baker Street”) was about that awful time (“the city desert makes you feel so cold, it’s got so many people but it’s got no soul”) and his triumph at the end (“the sun is shining it’s a new morning, … you’re going home”).

Yeah, I truly believe this is the most romantic song I know. Now you should check out Stuck In The Middle With You. It's Stealer's Wheel, Gerry Rafferty on vocals. The video is really something else.

J Waller the official video doesn’t have Gerry in it. He left the band and his friend ,Joe Egan, filled in on the video . Joe Egan always has a shit eating grin on his face . There’s another video that was broadcast on Top of the Pops that has Gerry in it performing Stuck in the Middle. He looks stoned as always.

@@davidbailey6397 Okay, that makes sense. I thought I never saw anything else where Gerry looked so happy. And not wearing tinted glasses. I thought they looked way different but thought maybe it was just mood/demeanor and a few year's difference. Now I know
