I think you'll find he's actually referring to The British Comedy Awards, not The Office or Extras. For you all to misinterpit a straight-forward comment such as that makes me wonder how you yourselves get the subtlety of something like The Office.

I'm not an easily offended person, (plus the chap seemed to take it in good humour) but I just felt my toes curl watching this. It doesn't feel like a parody nor does it have any ironic value, i.e.(and I hate to touch on another taboo here, or even use the word taboo as it's a remarkably silly sounding word) certain racist jokes are amusing simply because it's hilarious that anyone would ever make such jokes. I get feeling here that Gervais is just being shocking for the sake of being shocking.

It's not worth arguing about. Most comedy shows anywhere in the world are shit. You're lucky if you find a couple of good, smart ones in any country. People like Ricky Gervais and Larry David are the rare exceptions.

@fdl333 changing neighborhoods isn't just about status. the biggest reason a wealthy american would need to move is for security reasons. poorer neighborhoods tend to house more people that are willing to break into your house and steal your shit

I have watched both of them and I did like them especially carr as he has an attitude that he is better than Americans, and prop comedy which I have not seen for some time; however, as I told another person: I was referring to people chasing one another. If that sort of comedy had to be credited to one country I would say Britain...

@ProcolHarum1967 I never said Tesla was an American, however he did become famous in America, second those examples were just that, examples the list of the people and effects America has had on society, technology and so on is never ending. it is the epitome of ignorant to say England has done more because it is not measured in numbers but rather the gravitas of the effects on the things accomplished. I don't expect you to change your opinions because your home has achieved more, in your views.

@SaulMeyersz Then rise above it . I happen to think the original is better but I also realise that is because I'm British and I have quite different humour from most of the Americans and vice versa. @scolac English is a language from a melting pot of many different languages such as germanic and french ones. Words such as theatre are how they were originally spelt (it being a french word) so I think your claim is fairly unfounded. The bastardisation of English by the Americans is a modern thing and not a return to the original spelling. p.s. Just to be an arse putting more in front of similar is poor grammatically
@ProcolHarum1967

@cmsgt8hewett Not trying to argue with you here but you seem to only be able to think of two Americans who changed the world and one of them isn't even American. I disagree that the US hasn't achieved anything but your argument isn't very good if you can only think of one example.

@SaulMeyersz I'm really jealous of you. I mean, I assume, by looking at your spelling you're about 11. When I was 11 I didn't have the internet. You're a very lucky boy. As for your country, I live in your country and all I ever get is Americans telling me how cool my accent is, how they love the British etc. I'd also like to thank your women for being so easy I only have to say one thing and they're all over me and my accent. Good times.

@SaulMeyersz You have more women who are fat, smell and sweat when they eat. You do have plenty of stunners though, and I would like to thank them for being so easy that all I have to do is say Hi to them and they are all over me. I love being British.
@anythingidontcare99

@scolac LOL, you think that it was corrupted by the French after the independence of the USA? I'll give you a clue; read early American literature; it's real English (i.e. British English). British English, as you call it, supersedes the American dialect, and is far more widespread. And American English developed from English, within the past 150 years. It is certainly not closer to 'the original', if by 'original' you mean the earliest recordings of English.

@GSheppo92 America is a democracy with the largest military force and appreciates the help of any ally. your ignorance is really astounding, fighting a war without the help or approval of anyone else generally means you're on the wrong side; furthermore, the enemies of America have bin just as, if not a bigger threat than any England has faced. As far as not achieving much you're just plain wrong about that, two people who have effected everything you do lived did so in America Tesla and Edison.
