I still maintain you'd love the look of a peak lapel 1 button suit done properly by someone like Signor Jensen :)

If folks are interested in Neopolitan tailoring, they could also visit The Armoury in New York and Hong Kong. They do trunk shows, mtm etc in addition to hosting tailors from Italy.

Wonderful interview! It's always a great pleasure to listen to master tailor Eric Jensen, especially in a conversation with Kirby. I am looking forward to more videos!

Love this video but it is so confusing. At the time this video was produced, Eric wasn't merging with Stefano Bemer. He was merging with Sartoria Gallo. The dialogue between Eric and Kirby is about his merger with Gallo. The Gallo merger with Bemer, if that's what it was, didn't happen until this year. But the title refers to him as Eric Jensen of Stefano Bemer. Eric is now indeed the NYC Head Cutter for Stefano Bemer but that wasn't even on the table when this video was shot. The contact info in the video is for Sartoria Gallo, which no longer works. The contact info in the video written description above is for Stefano Bemer. It's like the video producer knew the future, but my guess is he came back to this video recently to update it as best he could with the Bemer information. There's another Kirby/Eric video with the same issues. I made a comment on it much like this one, but my comment mysteriously disappeared. Hmmm. I hope I'm not next, lol. In any case, I look forward to meeting Eric in October to commission my first Italian suit.

Kirby's quality is that good, it looks like your parts of the interview were pre-recorded. Im taking my first steps into this world. Interesting stuff. I've been a subscriber for a couple of years now and always had an interest in suits/formal and casual men's wear. I love the look and feel etc. Keep up the great content.

Kirby. That tie is gorgeous! Can you explain the difference in the lapel width?

Awesome video Kirby! Just a quick question: I was taught by my parents that I should unbutton my jacket button when I sit down so that the button doesnt come off. Ive noticed that you occasionally leave it buttoned. Is there any particular reason for that?
@jrh11254

@Galou00 - just as news-anchors and other folks on TV/the media I’d venture to say it’s for aesthetic reasons - just looks neater for the jacket to be closed.

@@jrh11254 Ok, makes sense if it is planned. I'd argue against the ideia that it looks cleaner buttoned when sitting down, however. Kirby's suit bunches up and wrinkles a lot buttoned compared to unbuttoned. Id also argue that news anchors usually don't have the best tastes or sartorial education to know you aren't supposed to do that.

@@galou0090 - don’t get me started on those TV people - particularly the local news-people - they seem completely clueless: ill-fitting suits, wrong color choices - just general all-around sartorially challenged.

@@jrh11254 Amen to that. In my country, I always notice their lack of taste. And don't get me started on politicians. I don't understand how you can spend an entire life wearing suits without trying to go a step further in your knowledge about them and how to dress. Damn

I wouldn’t leave my jacket buttoned when sitting for practical reasons. I wouldn’t want to stress the button and jacket. I generally feel more comfortable with opening the button, but look Tom Ford and his perfect posture with buttoned jacket when sitting aha ! Rules are here to be known, understood and broken.

What really are the differences in regional Italian styles? And you mentioned there is a French style, I’ve not seen that. What is that like?

French style is represented by Cifonelli's dramatic roped shoulders. Sonya Glyn from Sartorial Talks also mentions that French suits are cut slimmer and like to use a pagoda shoulder.
