Love your videos. But I think this one vastly undervalues the importance of relationships and being there for other people. Who will be there for you when you are at your lowest, when you slip, when you can no longer push through on willpower alone? Will it be the person you stopped talking to because you pictured yourself as a “higher quality” person than them? The friend you told you simply didn’t have the time? Prioritizing yourself is a wonderful thing. But the world has become so self-serving, so individualistic. You can strive for great things and also pull others up with you, or at the very least communicate with them properly. When you get to the peak leaving your loved ones behind, who will celebrate? Who will you watch the sunset with? Thank you for the great video regardless. I’ve outgrown friends before and probably will again. But I also know how important it is to let people in, to not only serve yourself. Not sure if anyone will read this- but be good to others this year. No one is in this alone.

Ye I was honestly thinking the same looking at his content. Though I appreciate his work ethic and will agree that he certainly on the right track, I feel as if for me to go on such a journey alike his would be impossible, as my values don’t necessarily align with his when talking about relationships. I believe that humans by nature are social beings, and that in the end your relationships and social life is what makes you human and strive. This might be why there can be millionaire’s who are unhappy in life because they dont have the people, or relationships to enjoy life. I think a big thing people should do when getting information like this of the internet is that they should take everything for a “grain of salt”. I agree with what he says, and I will admit I have learned from his videos and his knowledge which I am grateful for, but it wouldnt be smart to mindlessly follow a course without you yourself making up and processing your own values and beliefs. This is just for me however, and is my personal opinion. I appreciate you for opening up discussion on this topic.

@@Poochewastaken I totally get it. I feel the sort of mentality expressed here is, not to sound like I’m using a buzzword, but very late stage capitalism. Where people find a niche of the system they can fit into and succeed in (the sad reality that is hustle/grindset culture)- and start to perceive people who don’t partake of that same niche as “low quality”, lazy or weak. I’m a chronic overworker and what saved me from the hell of burnout was my friends and colleagues being there for me and encouraging me to take a step back. No one can survive on willpower alone, forever. Anyways, hope you have a happy new year and I was glad to read your thoughts ^^ I hope to see more people valuing each other and their communities this year. Truly great things are rarely made alone.

I 100% agree, we are human beings we need social connection, we need family (your own or your chosen ones) in our lives. I don‘t support the mindset of cutting people off quickly, people make mistakes, so do we. Of course there are things we should not forgive. But we also should not forget how difficult it is to build a friendship and how wonderful it can be once it‘s solid.

Yes i used to have such a problem with being a stoner and consuming mass amounts of junk food. I did exactly what you did with the common sense diet. The biggest hack was cutting out high fructose corn syrup becuz its actually way worse for us than sugar is. Im currently addicted to social media and i have just forced myself off of my main problem apps. Luckily my previous success with gaining control over my diet gives me more confidence that i can do the same with social media

I like these kinds of videos and find most of the tips useful, but there's always this thought that I can't seem to get past. What is going to happen after I let myself literally suffer for who knows how long to achieve something somewhat fulfilling? (like earning a lot of money, getting the dream job, having a schedule that's never undone, etc.) How am I supposed to bring all these family meetings or friend gatherings back? Just working like a machine with the cost of losing every potential memory, and what is going to happen after completing everything that was planned? Then what? Will happiness come? Arrival fallacy effect... Like I said, I like these videos, I'm not a hater or anything. But I just want to give another point of view to these. I agree that we waste a lot of our time on social media and it has many negative outcomes as well. So it is actually very important to limit that and spend our time with loved ones or do things that we enjoy doing. (If you don't know what you like to do, it is the best opportunity to find out!) But, I think not meeting with friends and family (I'm talking about healthy relationships) is wrong, and just trying to focus on your purpose will burn you out at some point. I think it is important to do the things you love and want while focusing on happiness throughout the journey. 2023 taught me this one important thing: happiness is not the end goal but it is every small thing, every step on the journey, and every person you make connections with. I wouldn't like the idea of seeing people after a few years just to regret every opportunity they've missed to achieve their so-called happiness target. Life is all about balance and if you force yourself, it'll be a problem one way or another. I don't mean to say just be lazy and have fun, you need to train your willpower. (sorry if this whole thing does not make sense, I'm trying my best to explain my thoughts, english is not my mother language 😭) But besides my opinions on this topic, I really liked your video, a lot of effort and research was put into it I can see that. And I hope including you and everyone who watches this video (and tbh me as well) can find something that's fulfilling for them that brings happiness. I wish you all the best and have an amazing year with lots of great news. 😌

Any tips on how to achieve this level of self-clarity? I mean you clearly know what you want for your life, contrary to me. I'm into self-improv for a while, I'm focused and disciplined towards my degree, but outside of uni I am a mess. All of my free time goes to entertainment and parties. You extract all of your power from your vision, and I lack that. All of my willpower comes from "I should pass this exam to get my degree"

Maybe find an interesting project related to your career. For example, if you're a CS student you can build an application to solve a certain problem. Observe your life and its problems, and try finding solutions that are related to your field and that you can bring a new way of solving. For this, you have to be very present. Visit new places, go walk in nature, meditate and talk to people who can improve your mindset. Finally, read, read a lot. Reading opens up your vision in order to find a sense of direction in life. Over time, creativity will start flowing and you'll get a project idea.

2024 is going to be the year that determines my next few years and maybe even the course of my whole life, and I wanna be sure I'm doing it right. Since I'm in my last year of school and my uni applications start in February/March (in Germany), I'll have to put a lot of effort into my finals AND my applications (which are HARD for the field of study I want to go into). This video came at the exact right time, and although I haven't yet watched it till the end, I already know that it's going to be one of the most important things I watch this year. I'm so paranoid but I'm sure I can master this year successfully if I unf*ck my life and especially my priorities. Thank you so much :)
