I absolutely love this guitar. Literally feel like it was made for me. Have been playing Classical/ Nylon Style Guitars (requinto) for many years now, with the hopes of breaking into more “mainstream” music. This is literally the silkroad child I have been looking for. I use it with a Fishman Amp, and it just sounds incredible. Great for solo playing or with others. No feedback when I turn up for those live performances either 🥹

That body blend control sounds like it’s adding a touch of reverb and brings the sound to what I’d call a full-bodied sound, as in a normal-depth body. I’d love to get one… but I’ll probably end up with something like the Artist Guitar’s top classical guitar instead!

Great playing and description of the Cordoba Stage! I love the looks, sound and specs of this guitar. None of the music stores in my area have it in stock so I might order it on line without playing it first. My only reluctance is that a few commenters have said that both of the E strings tend to slip off the fingerboard especially around the 12 fret area. Any insight on that issue?

Hi! 🙂 The sound of Classical guitar & Archtop guitar is a little similar to each other. Isn't it? 🤔 Both are soft, mellow & pleasant. 🎶🎵☕️❤☺️ Maybe that's why the Classical guitar is used in some Jazz music like Bossa Nova. Don't you think? 🤔

Today I spent a couple of hours in a music store trying out two of these; plus a Yamaha NTX 3. I had been thinking about getting a nylon electric hybrid for gigging, as my arthritis makes steel strings harder to play these days. I also love the sound of nylon strings. While they were lovely guitars and sounded nice I was overall disappointed by these instruments. Both Cordobas had an annoying buzz around the 4th fret of the D string. The fretboard felt a bit cheap; not overly pleasant to play. The Yamaha NTX 3 had a nicer feel on the fretboard; but there was an intonation problem on a couple of strings. I expected far far better than this. And therefore have to rethink my whole nylon electric guitar approach. I played a $500 Fender thin nylon electric which was not much worse than these. And to be honest my $100 Valencia beginner guitar which I use for teaching and a knock about guitar is not much worse. I don't believe in paying much more than $1000 AUS for a guitar and at this price they should be decent quality and at least playable. If I am going to fork out 1200-1500 for a Cordoba or Yamaha it should bloody well be gig ready with few minor adjustments and not require 'repairs' at the outset. I mentioned this to the music store staff and just got a blank look. "maybe you need to spend $3000 for a decent guitar". Like everything today - things cost so much more and are poor quality. And who is going to drag 2 or 3 instruments worth $2000-3000 each to gigs that pay $150 to a bunch of pissed morons.

Nice demo as always from Ben. Agreed that the classical player is unlikely to get into this - it really sounds like a classical guitar with everything the body provides taken out. Sounds like there is simply no resonance, and you're almost hearing the naked strings. Saying that, I am sure it has its applications with a bit of reverb and other electronic jiggery pokery.

Lovely playing and thanks for previewing this one! Will check into my local Cordoba agents shop and see when they expect it in. The price seems very reasonable given the pedigree (Cordoba know a thing or two about nylon strings) and the built in electronics. I suspect this one would work nicely for Bossa style as well. You mentioned the Gibson Chet Atkins. I had a chance to spend a some time with 2 that went thru the shop when I was a guitar salesman in the 70's. TBH I found the sound a bit 'rubbery' and unconvincing (I had a nice K. Yairi Classic and wanted something clean and bright for band work) so I passed but in 1992 I bought a Roger Sadowsky Electric Nylon which has been great for the odd occasion when I have been playing live - worth checking out. Thanks again!

This demo has a very "direct" sound (somewhat lifeless/anemic, dry) doesn't do it justice imo. However it absolutely comes alive through an acoustic amp like an AER 60 or Fishman Artist pushing some air..add reverb to taste and sounds phenomenal!

03:01 I've seen quite a few reviews of this guitar but unfortunately the reviews are all from the perspective of "steel string players" (who are used to a narrow nut width) adjusting to this slightly wider 48mm nut width than they are used to. I'm coming from the opposite direction, being used to the 50mm nut width on my Cordoba GK Pro Negra. I'm so used to that width that I'm concerned my fingers would be cramped with this "skinny" 48mm width. I wish at least one reviewer would also be coming from a classical or flamenco guitar to comment if that 48mm nut feels "too skinny". I guess I'll just have to find on in a shop and give it a try myself. Are there any classical/flamenco players out there who have tried this model? If so, please leave a few impressions of the 48mm nut. Does the narrowness bother you, or did you quickly get used to it?

I love the look, and the sound when you play softer things, but it sounds buzzy on the wound strings to my ear when you strum or play anything with heavier picking. Idk if that's the guitar, or the pickup system, or the amp, or the recording.

I definitely picked up on it too, which is fine for a flamenco set-up as a bit of buzz is expected however might not fly for more classical stuff unless it's designed to play well with the strings raised a bit too. I think it is the set up of the guitar from the sound of it.

I like the more portable format of these thin "electric" nylon string guitars but the piezo really kills it for me. I have seen some models with other types of piezo/transducer microphone that give off a more rounded tone, you can always blend the bridge saddles in for more definition.

It is very tempting. I have a Yamaha AEX500N2 which is great and overall sounds pretty good with the right settings. I think the Yamaha is a slightly narrower neck and shorter scale length. The nut is possibly just a touch too narrow with the high E just a bit close to the edge but the main thing I miss that the Cordoba has is the body sensors as the Yamaha just has the undersaddle so is limited for percussive effects and getting the blend of the fuller body sound. I guess a lot depends on amp or other settings but the sound of the Cordoba has ranged from excellent through to average as it comes across in this video or even poor to mediocre in a couple of others but that should be just finding the settings that work. Do I need one - no; do I want one - yes.

i was stuck between the same, i could not play either in person. The Cordoba is said to have factory high action at 12th fret (but that can be adjusted.) even so i just bought the Cordoba it seems like a great guitar (also i was simping for the look and tones.) I think the ibanez could end up being worth more money one day, more exclusive. small amount of buyers remorse not getting it. Ibanez makes good stuff so very good chance it plays awesome right out of the box on top. It same nut width as the Cordoba if that helps. i would get back to you when my new guitar arrives to update but I will be too busy than. lol
