School's back, and I need to start doing things again. Sadly, I have commitment issues with productivity... but these two rules have made it easier for me to get back to work.
1. The Two Minute Rule
If you don’t feel like starting something now, force yourself to do it for at least two minutes. The point is to show up to your task consistently; it’s not about doing a lot of work, or spending a lot of time. It’s just something super small that you can do to tell yourself that commitment is easy.
2. The Two Day Rule
For any daily habit like studying or working out: take the day off whenever you want, but you can’t do it two days in a row. It’s demotivating when you can’t stick to the daily plan that you made - so that’s why with the two day rule, you don’t exactly need a plan to stick to. You can take the breaks whenever you want, and not feel bad about it.
