Thanks man! Had no idea if it would work but thankfully it does! It gives people a similar level of customisation as working with the powergrade in Resolve. Need to test it now on the new Osmo Action 5 Pro footage.

We all start somewhere - so practice makes perfect and I certainly don't count myself as a pro. Shooting the right footage also helps a lot with the final look - so getting your exposure and lighting right goes a long way.

The footage is really impressive. I've been gorging on video/photo content, and this is one of my favorites. From a practical standpoint, in terms of cost and simplicity... it is my favorite.

@@EdProsser The fact it has a LOG profile and a built-in gimbal is awesome. I assume it also has 8-bit options for those who are starting and want to use the free version of resolve? I'm working on a video for the S9 and why its sick for (metal) musicians but eventually wanna do a "top 5 starter cameras for musicians" kinda thing. This looks like a great contender for sure. Especially seeing what you can pull out of it with your LUTs. Great work as always, Ed!

Yes it can shoot in 8-bit, you can also capture in 10-bit in normal picture profile too.

love your lut - I purchased and am taking the leap into using DLOG M - Never really thought about the OP3 being a cinematic looking camera, but now that I see this video, I'm going to try to make some vides that are more cinematic with the OP3. They highlights have always been an issue for me, thanks for the tips

It's totally possible! It just takes a bit of time to get to know its limits and how to expose it - it's actually been a super fun process trying to squeeze "cinematic" images out of this little thing - and it's the main reason I decided to release the LUT as I hope lots of people can put the camera to its full potential. Thanks so much for purchasing it.

If using the auto-iso range, does it "jump" visibly (i.e. if it goes from 100-200 do you notice? Or is it a smooth transition?)

@@EdProsser Have you tried matching D-Log M to other cameras?
@EdProsser
24 күн бұрын
I've mixed it in with v-log footage yes. It works best when they're sufficiently different style soft shots. Not like side by side shots because the sensor size and sharpness of the footage will differ a lot between cams. But the Osmo works great for wide establishing shots, externals / follow shots etc. I probably wouldn't use it as a second angle on an interview

Insane Ed! Have you found an ND strength that can be used in most areas, or are you hot swopping a lot?
@EdProsser
Ай бұрын
Oh it totally depends on light quality and what you're shooting - 64 is pretty good - but if you're outside usually setting an ISO range and having a single ND works well for a few hours so longs as light quality is fairly consistent. If you're shooting indoors and outdoors a lot - or in sun / shade (cloudy day) - you may find yourself swapping then on or off. Finger prints on the lens just give you some natural lens diffusion!

Can I use LUTs using iPad Pro?

Yeah you just need editing software like FCPX, capcut or DaVinci resolve. Fun fact: this LUT pack and powergrade were created on an iPad pro.

@EdProsser

I have tried it with the LUMIX S5iix, if I remove the LUT and do a CST vlog-rec.709 it close but it needs some camera specific tweaks. My plan is to roll this out to vlog and slog soon with specific tweaks for those colour spaces to get them looking similar.
@Lucas_Alpay

Not on the camera, I think some people have a work around where they use the phone app and can overlay a secondary app that shows zebras. But you do get good at eyeballing the image after a while and knowing when it will clip.
