I have a love/hate relationship with panels! I’m always trying to keep as much fabric as I can but after watching how beautiful everything turned out, sacrificing a small amount to square things up makes for a gorgeous end product! Thank you for sharing!❤

Great tip! I’ve tried this and haven’t had much luck with it personally, especially not on the digital-printed like this. It seems like we have to make the choice between the grain being straight or the image being straight in most cases. Definitely a great strategy! Thank you for sharing!

I enjoyed watching to see different projects with panels, - I am always worried about cutting up panels. ???Do you sew on a Janome 6700P - if so how did you get a 1/4" guide on your dual feed foot and which stitch plate do you use - I can't find the answer in the guide?
@SewtheDistance

Hi! So glad you love this video! Panel can be scary to cut. They are wonky. ❤️ As for the machine, I do have the 6700P. I purchased the 1/4” flange foot for the dual feed foot and it has markings on it. As for the plate, I am using the standard plate in the video. I hope this helps!

@@SewtheDistance - Thanks for the info - after I asked I realised I got a set feet for the dual feed foot - yep that is what those feet I couldn't work out what belonged to. I think I have the standard plate on. Thanks for help my 6700P is new.
@SewtheDistance
7 ай бұрын
Yay! So happy you got that one. If you look on the 1/4" foot, there is a little notch. That is your 1/4" mark for when you are sewing on binding (on the metal part, not the black guide). I hope this makes sense. It took me some time to realize that is a 1/4" mark. It is so helpful!

Im having quite the problem with the thread getting all bungled up & making me come to a halt. Idk what is causing it. I've taken the bobbin out & it looks fine. I've rethreaded the machine & it is fine. I was shadow switching on some Christmas trees & got to tge 3rd row of 5 & had to quit with it. For today. And it was sewing like a snail. I got frustrated.
@SewtheDistance
6 ай бұрын
Oh no! Here's what I do when something like that happens. I start from square one. I unthread my machine, take out the bobbin, clean the machine (including the feeddogs), change the needle, and rethread it, re-insert the bobbin, etc. If that still haven't helped, I will wind a new bobbin. Usually somewhere in the mix it fixes the issue. I hope this helps!

So Cute! Have you ever tried a twin needle? I would suggest using it on items in which the back side is not visible. The bobbin thread has to go between the needles on the back so you don't get a straight stitch look. I actually used it on a lap quilt for myself. I made it from thrifted men's shirts and sewn on my Singer Red Eye Treadle. I quilted it on my modern machine that had a setting that would mimic a hand stitched look. I just love it! It's one of my favorite quilts.
