That is so very awesome that he gave you those notes.. im sure that they will carry more and more meaning as they are handed down from generation to generation of students.. what a legacy to pass that treasure on to others.

Love that saying. The spontaneous part or no mind reminds of dropping your house keys, if you say oh crap their falling you may not catch them when falling but if you just react you can catch them before they hit the ground.

I am so thrilled that you are sharing this legendary master's wisdom. What a filial son! I remember when I first read Mark's book, Iron and Silk. It was a life-shaping text. Thank you SO MUCH for this!

My pleasure, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I found some footage recently that he gave me a long time ago of a full interview he did. I should have it uploaded soon.

Nice explanation of the process of automatization with “practice, practice…nothing mystical about it”. Applies to any art form, martial arts to piano. Hope you translate those notes!

Thanks! I've translated about 4 or 5 of them so far and made videos. I'm going to keep working on them over the winter. He gave me so many valuable pieces of knowledge and wisdom!

I'm trying to pick a school to eventually join and am torn between the Toronto Shaolin Temple and Hong Luck. They are both close together and I am leaning towards Hong Luck since it seems more traditional but I'm wondering if you had any insights/opinions on the two schools and which may better?

That's great that you'll be joining a school! Just as full disclosure, I train at the Shaolin Temple School and I love them, so I'm biased for sure. However, I would say that they're both traditional. Hong Luck has been in Chinatown for a very long time. It is focused on Southern Styles of Kung Fu. I believe it's it's Hung Gar and/or Choy Li Fut. The Toronto Shaolin Temple (STQI) has been in Chinatown for about 8 years, but it is run by an authentic 35th generation Shaolin disciple (Shi Chang Dao). he is trained by a Shaolin Monk (Shi Guo Song) who lives now in Markham after moving here from the Shaolin Temple. So it's traditional and authentic Shaolin Kung Fu. You could do a few trial classes at each school and see which one suits you the best. It's the ideal way to see what's a good fit for you.

Yes. I agree with yong li bu yong yi yong yi bu yong li. With one exception. Use purpose (a mindful intention, a purpose, meaning), rather than mind. Alphabet Inc, google, gave me this idea. Via screen cap translate of your text (my transcribing) u found it useful for my nonsense
