What is your motivation to do a PhD? What is your purpose of doing research? Doing a PhD is very difficult. You will experience many PhD problems along the way. I talk about the difficulties of doing a PhD and the outcomes.
Then, I talk about the importance of your motivation with doing a PhD to overcome these problems. First, you are going to need this ‘why’ to get through some very difficult times. Coming up with an important problem, or question, not only motivate you through some very difficult times when you’re doing a PhD, but also how do you see the bigger picture.
Second, having a great ‘why’ will help you understanding what project to pick and choose projects appropriately. It will help reduce the PhD problems you experience.
Third, knowing your why will also help you find suitable people to work with on these projects. It will help you find other people to work one similar difficult projects.
Fourth, having a clear sense of your why will also make it very easy for others to identify what you were about, and then make it easier for you on the job market. PhD motivation should increase when you have a great why.

As a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.
