My husband, retired officer, taught me a great trick... when a tailgater is too close, turn on your 4way flashers!! They go around or back off you quickly

Good morning, Coach. It's a balmy -6 this morning in Smyrna, Tennessee. When people start yelling at me, I just use SAS. (Remember the saying, "Sticks and Stones?") After over 60 years, it is still true today.

eject eject eject! oh wait, we are not on jet fighters.. the worst tail gating situation I was in on my spyder rt was in a rain storm. I was tail gunner on a club ride. we were on i485 around Charlotte in the right lane. some idiot trucker was trying to play indy racer in heavy traffic and heavy rains. survived it as we exited within the mile, but I did hear a lot of horns blaring as the truck came through.

Yeah we got tailgated last year when two guys in a pickup truck pulling a rv trailer, couldn’t wait for speed limit to increase as we were going through a small rural town & didn’t like that we were doing the speed limit posted ! The other area you have to watch is on ramps as many people don’t give you room & cut you up lots of times! Anyways great advice coach as usual. Best regards Stephen Alberta Canada.

Great advice Coach Bob! I’ve been to many motorcycle accidents in the last 35 years and most of the time the motorcycle runs into the back of another vehicle because of excessive speed.

Good morning Coach Bob, good advice. If someone is tailgating me on the Spyder I just slow down and wave them to come on around. Most of the time this takes care of the situation. If they don’t or can’t for some reason I will pull off the road when safe to do so. Road rage is a dangerous thing to be part of. Keep your cool 😎

Lots of good remedies for the problem, but above all KEEP YOUR COOL! After 30 years driving a commercial vehicle, one thing I learned... Ain't nothin' good happens when you get mad. As a Smith System instructor for our company, we taught 4 seconds following distance. In todays traffic I find that hard to do, but I can do 3 seconds pretty easily.

GOMA. What I tend to do is slow down. I don’t brake check, just ease off and drop the mph a few at a time till they go around me. I don’t act unfriendly at all since I’m not in a two ton battering ram. If that doesn’t work then change it up, turn off or haul a_s. I also don’t play any games in weather. Good vid as always Bob!

Yep, 4 seconds is what we learned in our 3 wheel course, but absolute minimum is 2 seconds...thanks for this great video! Have a blessed day and stay safe out there! 💜💜🤗🤗🙏🙏

It is aggravating to have to pass someone who is in the "fast" lane. You bring up a good point about the exits (and also entrance ramps)...have to be extra careful there because of what you have described occurring.

Yes, CoachBob, we need to leave the emotions out! Good advice! TommyG's advice usually is to pull off if at all possible...BTW I'm almost always going the speed limit or a bit over...Listen, I see your shirt there...your are not literally freezing lol. 😄😄😂😂

Hey Coach, as always I hope this finds you and yours healthy and happy. Although we are in the middle of our cold season. I have found myself spending time searching for day and weekend trips on my 2022 S2S. I have compiled a long list of cities, sights, and restaurants to visit across the state of Texas. I have reached out to you before about planning these trips on Google Maps, and then being able to upload them to my Garmin Zumo to have on the bike. So I will ask again If you could put something together that lays out the steps on how you do this. It would be great. If it was a video that would be awesome, but at this point, I would take a handwritten paper to get me started down this path. Thanks for your consideration. All my best. Brad

Thanks Coach! Great advice. As my driving habits have matured, (not total me, I’m never growing up 😅), my go to move is to remove myself from the situation if I can. My other move is to let them around. They must be in more of a hurry than me. Let them go. Stay safe!

Thanks CoachBob, I don't tailgate and it irritates me to have someone tailgate me. I could be stopped at a light or riding down the road, but it bothers me a whole lot. I usually just slow down while riding and they eventually pass, but at a light I stay back from the vehicle in front of me, but I move up and usually the moron behind me moves up at the same time. Motorists have no idea the danger they cause. I don't show any emotion or retaliate because that will cause a bigger problem which I don't need.

I love Australia, but I find very rude drivers . People don’t have empathy , consideration for others, heavy vehicles are even more irresponsible. Road rage here is very common. Difficult to keep cool . You are definitely correct about your tips .

The best strategy is to follow the rules of the road … slower traffic keep right except to pass ? If your on the interstate or main highways we’ve all seen thr signs they’ve been around since we were kids , don’t make it harder than it needs to be , if you know you’re in the left lane with cars behind you , you’re in the way !! move over , they will pass then you can move back over and get in the way again 🤷 the interstates are no place to make personal “I’m not moving” “statements , the roads are a very serious place , people die there every day , it’s not anyone’s personal road move over .. you have no right to put on flashers or break check someone bc they’re on your back just move over it’s the way roads were designed to flow most naturally ..

Whether in a car or on my Spyder, I try to give the other driver the benefit of the doubt. For all I know,, they may be rushing due to an emergency. I’ll pull over or turn off. This saves everyone’s sanity. They’re not blocked and I get to continue in peace. This was a long time coming, to be sure. 😬

Those kind of people that are tailgating I let Them go by me I rather have them in front of me then behind me. When I am on the highway I get in the middle lane And run 5 miles over the speed limit. that way they have 2 lanes to go by me.
