Jordan peele does a great job of weaving social commentary into his movies especially this one. Them asking him about the “black experience” was a way of vetting to see if it was worth bidding and taking over a black persons body and living the rest of their life as one since you can tell they rely on stereotypes cause they have no actual friends of color.

@@Bonbonbon739 Stepford Wives is about women getting replaced with 'perfect' versions of themselves. The main character is a girl who does photography. Get Out is about black people getting replaced by white people. The main character is a guy who does photography. Peele is a big fan of that book, and the og film. Don't Worry Darling is about people being in a simulation.

It’s interesting watching how non black people react to certain things in this movie. Really highlights the differences within our realities as well as how we are conditioned to recognized different warning signs. Some things non black reactors see as normal is a major red flag for some black people. I wonder if someone has made a sociology class around this movie?🤔
@dmg.2443

I feel as though you're referencing 5:20 because that's exactly when I knew they were oblivious to all the warning signs. It's really weird to witness as Black person and also kind of scary to think that so many people especially in America are blind to the behaviors that racist engage in and how black people have learned to pick up on even the most subtle cues. I believe this is why so many Americans think that racism isn't prevalent. Even when he said it should.matter his race when initially meeting the parents. It shouldn't but that's so far from reality It's unfortunate that this is how things play out. And to think they want to remove anything pertaining to black history from school curriculums. It's insane really.

Works well as a mystery thriller but has deeper meaning and levels ,I watched it a second time and spotted even more of the allegorical sub-plot, the director did the same with his film Us . Like Ken LOACH ,Jordan Peele is concerned with the class divide , very different film makers ,but same subject matter , both are much needed in todays cinema .

No he was actually his end up in jail for killing all those people because they police didn't believe him but it was during a time when all of those unarmed black people were getting killed by cops and jordan didn't think it would be good for black American to end the movie that way. He wanted black Americans to have a "win" Jordan peele was correct. I would have hated it, especially during that time of the movie ended they way. It would have left a feeling of hopelessness

I know you tried to explain the reasoning behind choosing black people but let me help you here. The theme around the plot is an extreme take on black appropriation whether it be cultural or physical. For many many many years black people have been admired for physical and artistic feats. They have been viewed as having gifts and have been exploited for those gifts. You see it mostly in sports and entertainment but it is across the board. Because of the history of of the country, there remains viewpoints and ideologies that black people are not as valuable as people per se and here in servitude of others. This is why the Dad was asking him what his purpose was. So some believe there is nothing wrong with using black for their gifts because that is their "purpose" sort of speaking....to be used and exploited for the benefit of others. So in this movie, the family was abducting black people to be used as avatars for older white people that admired specific "gifts" they saw in them. The Grandma loved Georgina's beauty and skin. That's why she was always looking at her own reflection in windows. The Grandfather lost the Olympics to Jessie Owens so he wanted to be in a more athletic body. That's why he runs at night. All the bidders at the party were revealing specific "gifts" or believed myths of gifts of black people they wanted. And of course here it was ultimately about his gifts as a photographer. It's the ultimate extreme version of "trying to be black" 😅. So it wasn't that they thought the brains were defective. They just didn't care about that part because they never thought of them as anything but tools for their own benefit in the first place......avatars.

I appreciate the detail around 30:40 with Rose’s room and her eating the fruit loops and glass of milk separate. The connotation is segregation-separating the “colored” fruit loops, from the white milk, but the fact that she STILL eats the fruit loops, is the idea of fetishization, how she has a history of dating and sleeping with black guys, but still brings them back to her parents’ home to take their lives, and has each of their photos as trophies. Eating the fruit loops separately is her indulging in that twisted view. Each picture commemorates, not a once loving relationship, but an insidious conquest over a minority’s life and her fetishizing them. I suppose it’s like the saying goes; every rose has its thorns.

If nothing struck anyone in the beginning, the brother genetic comment and no reaction from anyone expose volumes to me. Then when you noticed he said she should have told him before he came but previously you said it shouldn’t matter, it shouldn’t and I’m their case they already knew so that’s why it didn’t, but it does.
