Since I turned away from the social media rat race and started focusing on making licensable tracks, with the proper approach and reasonable expectations, I have been a lot calmer and happier. I could feel my blood pressure dropping. Best move I’ve made in a long time.

Just started my journey with Sync Licensing. Registered with BMI, and am working on my website right now. Going through your checklist. I'm excited to delve into this career path.

I was literally just talking about the fact social media is a toxic waste of time that dose practically nothing for your business.

I have a couple questions. Does it matter if the song I want to pitch is one I released on streaming a few years ago? What about a song that isn't on streaming at all? Does the music even have to be available to the world? Thanks for the info + your time

I have two questions that I hope you can answer. I found out about you like 5-6 months. And I want to dive in full force and pay for the subscription. But these two questions has me debating 🤔 on the fence. Because I don't know the answers. My first question is...I'm registered through BMI, where I have an IP#. Is that all I need to sync my music? Or do I have to register it differently with BMI? My second question is... a lot of my music is tailor-made. Meaning I think of a melody, create a little of it, then have a colleague of mine put the finishing touches on it to complete. But I'm the sole owner. Other songs I did I leased the beat off the internet. So I'm the writer of the songs, but the beat is leased. So the second question is... can them songs be sync'ed too? If the track (instrumentals) are leased? 😕 🤔

Welcome to the channel! I created a Sync Beginners "Checklist" which will show you everything you need to get started in Sync Licensing: kzitem.info/news/bejne/o5CDuZWqopqJe34 If you don't own 100% of the rights to the music you're shopping then you'll need to get the other partys' permission to pitch your music to Sync Libraries.

Love the content as usual, that being said, I just had a prominent library ask for my social media info…. Granted, that might be for reasons other than popularity…. But wouldn’t most libraries want composers, like yourself who can help them advertise? It seems social media, is relevant.

It can certainly be relevant and useful (perhaps to check out more of your music), but it's def not required. And if a Library is looking to use your social media accounts to advertise themselves, I'd be hesitant to work with them. That's really not your job and they should have that covered within their business.

Any suggestions on a library that would be interested in electronic, sound scape instrumentals?

That's a pretty niche genre to get involved with. Unfortunately I don't have any recommendations for you.

I left Facebook 2 years back after i tried to put myself out there as a film composer or producer. After being asked to do endless non paying projects I left it all behind. Joined Instagram. Because the kids on my college degree formed a class group there. It's nothing but unwanted feeds of narcissistic teens wanting your devotion. Personally, when I finish a track, its hard enough creating metadata, then uploading it to this library and that library and soundcloud and band lab. I'm totally wrecked before I even think about social media. 40,000 songs a day uploaded on Spotify and you're meant to compete with that for people's attention? No. From here on in I will have a well presented website, quality music and the patience to give it a few years at least. Let my peers be the ones in sync licensing and nobody else. Last night I fleshed put an entire storyline for a made up movie complete with characters and plot points. All so I can sit down and create an album of music based on a particular genre. When its ready, it goes out to companies and twitter, Facebook, Instagram and everything else can carry on without me.

Some exclusive Libraries will be ok with your submitted tracks being previously released publicly, but you ALWAYS need to let them know when you pitch your music. If your tracks haven't been released at all then you're 100% clear to submit them to an exclusive Music Library.
