It's sometimes best to determine whether the ants are plant or meat eaters. I found out that my ant infestation consisted of meat eaters, so I found some tent caterpillars, soaked them in a sugar/borax solution and placed them in the path of the ants outdoors. The ant nest was located in a tree next to the house and it looked like they were setting up a satellite nest in the wall of one of my bathrooms. The ants took pieces of the tent caterpillars into both locations. It took about two weeks and the ants disappeared. It looks like your method works well too!

It's aweful I've tried everything, I have diatomaceous earth powder all over my house, it helps but they just pop up somewhere else!

Wondering why you didn't just get some silicone caulk and fill up that crack where they're getting in? It's inexpensive, quick, easy, and actually solves the problem. Baiting inside a house isn't a good idea, unless you have no choice. The ants leave a pheromone trail saying they found a good source of food inside your house, bringing more where you don't want them.

Please be advised this it not dog or cat proof. A dog or cat can demolish that plastic bottle in a heartbeat. Please use a glass jar with a metal lid or other container for the pets sake. Thanks.

You are awesome!! I started watching you to get advise on harvesting my very first garden- my first task is drying my sage leaves. I now see this post, I have done this mixture before to get rid of ants in my house and it does work - never fails. I would put my mixture it in a bottle cap- never thought to put the ingredients in a water bottle (which is more contained- less chance for spillage). Whatever you are talking about you always give a detailed explanation and it always seems like the question I am ready to ask while watching, you address anyway. I would like to know, what zone do you live in? I live in the Northeastern part of the US. Do your posts apply to us as well?

Correct me if I am wrong- we have had a lot of rain & the ground is soggy, so they I think they are trying to move to get out of the damp condition of their nest I am interested to see will they leave when it stops the rainy season. I don't want to get rid of black ants because they do keep fire ants at bay naturally in the yard. I have a new home & they came in from the slider door. Just curious if anyone else notices if it is rainy when you notice them. They seem to be climbing our outside walls because the ground has been wet for weeks.

I’ve sat there and put some right there on the ledge and watched them they will walk around it over it but they don’t eat it I just don’t get it. I’m so frustrated please any ideas to help me please

I think they don’t eat it - they get it on their bodies and take it back to the source so .. it doesn’t kill them instantly .. may take 24 hours.

@@jimmyboy2165 Hmmm .. how frustrating 🙁 I guess you’re gonna have to get some serious chemical or something. I woke up to my cake stand covered in the little bastards .. I put the whole thing in a big bag and tied it up .. I’m waiting until they all suffocate in there and then throw it out .. and put a trail of Borax along the countertop ledge where they were coming in and, so far, it seems to have stopped them. I wish I had another suggestion for you.

You can make a barrier of coffeepowder to Stop Ants. Because of the strong Coffee smell, they cant smell the other ants. Ants follow other ants because of the smell they leave in the ground
