When you replace your turntable mat the thickness of it may change the VTA of your tonearm, changing the rake angle of the cantilever of your stylus. This can negatively affect sound reproduction unless you can adjust the tonearm VTA. Also, in my opinion, I would start by upgrading your stylus to a microline or shibata profile diamond. This makes a HUGE upgrade in sound and decreases distortion, especially the closer you get to the label ( IGD). After upgrading your stylus then I would suggest looking into a good quality outboard preamp- another potential leap towards higher fidelity.

pls I don’t know how to make my record spin without making it sound: I have a atlp60x which is full auto so when I press the button the arm moves and the cartridge lays the stylus on the record. If I want to make it spin just to clean the record how can I do it? Do I have to spin it manually because it’s what I am doing atm.

Definitely make sure you installed the belt correctly. If not, I’d recommend reaching out to customer support first install assistance!

I really enjoy watching & listening to your videos but i hope you are going to stick with the fact that you have a long way to go in your Hi Fi music world & to listen to what other people think about which way to go is going to help you 100% because whatever you think about Hi Fi you can never get enough of it.. keep up the good work & always ask if there is anything that you want to know because you will never stop learning about vinyl music.

Should you still buy a preamp if your turntable comes with a pre built one? Does it make a big diffin sound?

If you get a pretty basic pre-amp, it's hard to tell the difference. It helps with audio-gain (makes the output a bit louder so you don't have to crank your speakers higher, for example). If you spring for a higher quality pre-amp it can definitely have a notable difference on sound quality! For most people just getting started though, sticking with the built-in amp at first is totally great to get started and trying a pre-amp down the road is a good upgrade.

Ive been using this ART Pro Audio DJPRE II phono preamp with my vintage pioneer turntable instead of the onboard phono input on my Pioneer LX505 and have been quite happy.

Get a 12V power supply and give that a try with the ART DJPRE II.
