one other thing, I'm sure you've seen Ted Greene talk about baroque improvisation and how much Bach liked first inversion chords, but if any of your subs haven't, just look up "Ted Green Baroque Improv"

Superb Anthony. Lovely playing. I've always felt Bach to be an important study for bass players. There so much to learn in his music and it is wonderful to just listen to anyway.

I just finished studying Bach's Prelude (Cello suite N1 in G major) I tried to figure out the fingering by myself. I'm blown away on how much this helped me in so many thing, ear training, visualisation, harmonic movement (or motif development) and/or just straight up cool liccs Nough said bro I'm gonna start cracking this piece (I'll try not to peak your fingering and then compare lol) Thanks for the great content Anthony I truly appreciate your job :)

One of the most wonderful, almost totally unadorned walking bass lines is found in Bach's Air on the G-String, from his 3rd Orchestral Suite. Would be great for a beginner's lesson.

I have stolen so much from Bach and worked his ideas into my walking lines. Recently started working on the G minor violin fugue (not all of it fits on bass obviously, but what does is very insightful).

Correct! The motion IS there regardless of the existence of the harmony. One of the many reasons I push musicians to study Bach. He did a ton of stuff that's still relevant to this day and age :)
