We moved from metro Detroit about 18 years ago. We miss the area very much, everything from our tiny house in Ferndale, our favorite restaurants, Bakers Keyboard Lounge (the oldest jazz club in the country) and since we lost our parents, DTW. If we ever traveled home by air, we knew it would be a smooth trip through DTW. The Delta Sky Lounge is a dream and a pleasure waiting for your flight.

DTW is my home airport. My husband & I are disabled and require the wheelchair service. There have been times when not enough wheelchair pushers were available and we had one person pushing 2 wheelchairs! They are not allowed to use the tram if one person is pushing 2 wheelchairs down "the longest terminal corridor in the US"! Sometimes there are 16-17 year old teenagers working 2nd shift. They get paid $7.25/hr which is minimum wage. If you use this service please remember to tip your wheelchair pusher! We tip $20 per chair.

I connected through DTW from Amsterdam in April of last year and it was a very easy airport to navigate. I only had carry-on luggage, so after passport control I quickly passed TSA and found my way to the gate for my connecting flight. I only missed out on riding the APM as it wasn't really necessary for me at the time 🙂

We are flying from Louisville to Detroit for a connection flight to London. Our flight from Louisville was moved back by almost 2 hours so now we have 59 minutes between flight. As we do not fly often, I have been super nervous about the short layover times. Hopefully everything runs smoothly.

If they're on the same booking (I'm assuming both legs are on the same Delta ticket) the connection is built-in, meaning they're betting you'll make it. Thankfully, DTW is one of the best airports in the country for a tight connection. From the moment you walk off the plane till the time you get to your next gate, even at the farthest possible distance, is about 10 minutes for most Delta flights. Most flights between Louisville and Detroit these days use the central B gates, and nearly all international flights use the central A gates. Connect through the tunnel between A and B, and you'll find your gate with ease and time to spare!

My Home Airport as well. I've flown Northwest, Southwest and Frontier to and from Oregon and also Colorado when my Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles were still alive. Now recently booked for my 3 year belated college graduation gift which is a 10 day trip to Southern Germany/Austria via Delta Airlines in Late August/Early September! Can't wait to see the land of my blood ancestors, the Natural Beauties like the Alps, the Great Meat-Based Cuisines and the History (Musical, War or Cultural) of various locations throughout both countries. I may even get to see my father's buddies from when he had fairly frequent business trips for Volkswagen as Parts Middle Management! Maybe even Tour the Wolfsburg Factory!

Back in the 70s we got high driving around metro and ended up on the tarmac, Don’t know how we made it that far.
DTW Metropolitan Airport is one of America's best mega world class airports ever built. Located in Romulus, MI, an airport suburb of Detroit, it's one of the best hubs of Delta Airlines other than MSP Int'l Airport.

3:53 I found a mistake in this video. This is the wrong IATA code of Shanghai Pudong International Airport. PVD is the airport code of Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport in Warwick, RI south of Providence, RI. The airport code of Shanghai's world class airport is PVG. But hey, at least the rest is a good video of the tour of DTW.

Since Delta bought Northwest DTW has been Delta' second largest hub (it was NWA's largest) but according to this vlog it's Delta's 3rd largest... So maybe one of Delta's other hub's have supplanted Detroit? If true, then which one is now 2nd?

Many announcements and signs are in Japanese and English. If there are not bilingual gate agents or flight attendants servicing your flight, find the nearest gate where a flight is leaving for Japan; the agents there have the highest chance of speaking Japanese.

How easy is it to get to and from the airport to downtown
@MilesByFoot
Жыл бұрын
The airport is a good distance from downtown, about 20 miles as the crow flies. It's served by Detroit's express bus service, which they named "FAST." The 261 FAST bus heads downtown every 30 minutes or so, stops at both the McNamara and Evans terminals, and the trip to or from the airport takes about an hour.
@killerbees177
