At 2:11 i think you could have jumped up and hovered as covered by Aircharged RL( i really think you would like his material Kevpert, you and him are my favorites on this platform) . Maybe it still would have gone in but you may have spooked him too. Either way this is fantastic ty for uploading
@Kevpert

On that one, it's actually unsaveable. If you hover, then he does the wavedash shot. If you defend the wavedash shot, then they frontflick it over you. That's a top level 1s move that Ayyjayy and AppJack uses. The only way to save it is to randomly guess and hover at goal height. I thought he was gonna fake, so I stayed on the ground. If you watch AyyJayy vs LJ in the GWB quals (Game 4), you'll see what I mean.

Love the analysis, it’s a shame so few people do this. Does anyone know why high level players do crazy circles during ARL/ARR like at 9:06-9:07? I’ve been trying to improve car control lol
@Kevpert
Жыл бұрын
The circular movement comes from tapping ARL/ARR and pulling the stick to the side. E.g. ARR + stick to the right.
@TruthAndReconciliation
Жыл бұрын
@@Kevpert I meant the left stick inputs around 9:06 when going for the second touch, I see players do clockwise/counterclockwise circles almost with the left stick but for whatever reason I can’t wrap my head around it

Rolling can get you into a position on the ball you want, because perhaps your takeoff wasn't perfect or you read the aerial wrong, and rolling can help you recover to a proper touch. After the reset, rolling serves 2 functions. Getting set up for a flick/dodge or rolling during the ball touch to keep the car from recoiling. Any touch on the ball in the air without air roll or a dodge will upset the car's balance. Air roll negates this effect.
@Kevpert

@@TruthAndReconciliation I would highly recommend watching Ganer's last video. The method in which he approaches Workshop maps (e.g. holding boost + air roll) will really develop what you're talking about. Try it on Obstacle Course #2 by French Fries. It's a nice big map, but still quite challenging.

I'm glad you're back to posting videos. For 1s I'm surprised you didn't go for more lateral dribbles when you had free balls. You went very direct and tried to speed up the play, but you have higher percentage plays by wrongfooting the opponent. Set up a powerslide cut if they dive, or whatever offensive play you want if they don't.

at 2:33 the flick was wide open, feel like if you were a bit more in control of the dribble, you couldve scored. Same thing at 2:49, you get the slow dribbles but you don't put your car into a position where you could get a banger flick. Now that more into the video, i think ive realized that you're not doing much flicks. Why?
@Kevpert
Жыл бұрын
Haha I think that's just me shaking off the rust. Definitely need to work on my flicks a little bit. The reason I don't really do flicks is I spend a lot more time watching the opponent and not going all-in on a play. It's a trait I've seen S5-Cosmic do (this guy is insane). He just doesn't overcommit and plays really safe, and just wins 90% of games against top pros. With non-committed plays, I can build offensive pressure and eventually get an easy goal. Fairy Peak has a great 1v1 Offense Tutorial that explains this idea too.

It's just for vision while doing ground plays, especially with dribbles. It's impacted my mechanics, but not by that much really. The fact that I can read the opponent and then go for a simple mechanic means it's a good tradeoff for me.
