Hey everyone :) In today's video, I'll be sharing with you how I'm currently getting back into shape after letting myself go. During my last semester of university, I changed my eating habits, started eating more junk food, and my exercise routine became practically non-existent. I gained about 15 pounds (or more) and was feeling really down about myself and how I looked. This was the first time I gained weight non-intentionally since I originally lost weight (60 pounds) over 9 years ago.. (I gained some weight since then, but it was healthy, not like this). There were other aspects of my life as well that I was neglecting as well, but I didn't realize it until I realized I was also neglecting my health. I know I've shared videos like this in the past, but I really wanted to show you in real-time how I did it. This is over the course of the last few months, but I managed to film some parts of me getting back into shape, such as my first ever workout, struggling with cardio, having to quit exercises earlier than intended, and learning about how important it is to just show up to workout, even if it's only for 5 minutes. This didn't really have an effect on my weight, but this was more for my health! The food portion had the most impact. I started skipping lunches often because I was "too busy" to cook or pack a meal because of school, and this was combined with eating more junk food like chips. The combination of these two things, and probably stress from school as well, is what I feel really caused me to become unhealthy. It sounds counter intuitive, but eating LESS food can cause you to GAIN weight!! That's why friends and family are so shocked I can eat so much, because what I eat is mainly whole foods, lots of veggies, and I eat more often. Even when I look back at when I was 60 pounds heavier way back in the day, I never ate as much food as I do now.
So sorry for the long description, but I feel like I'm better at writing this out than I did in the video :') But I hope you enjoy, and that these tips, or just seeing me get back into shape after being a couch potatoe, really helps or motivates you! When you "let yourself go" (and I put that in quotations because that's very subjective!) you can feel a bit hopeless, but you can change anything in your life as long as you put in the effort, and are consistent!
