Many would have agreed, if I were to say that our water supply can be very nasty at times. Beside the water cut or disruptions, we are often baffled by the quality of water - cloudy, muddy, smelly, impurities, bacteria, virus and many other hazardous concerns. So, what are you going to do about it?
1. Water Filter System
• Outdoor
• Indoor
2. Model, Size & Capacity
• Reinforced Fiberglass Body
• Stainless Steel body
3. Tests & Certifications
NSF - National Sanitation Foundation USA
NSF independently tests, audits, certifies, trains and consults for the food, water, health science, sustainability and consumer product sectors.
FDA - The Food and Drug Administration USA
FDA is responsible for protecting the public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices; and by ensuring the safety of our nation's food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation.
4. Filtration Media
4.1 Anthracite
Anthracite, often referred to as hard coal, is a hard and compact variety of coal with the highest content of carbon. Excellent filter media for water clarification in drinking or industrial use, when used in combination with filtering sands. Primary function is to trap the sediments, and to absorb large amounts of impurities in water.
4.2 Zeolite
A naturally occurring mineral rock, formed when mineral rich underground water deposits crystallise. The main advantage of Zeolite over sand is that it produces a cleaner, safer, higher quality water with a unique capacity to bind and remove ammonia, nitrogen and various metal ions.
4.3 Fine gravel
Removes dirt.
4.4 Fine sand
Further trapping of fine sediments.
4.5 Coarse gravel
Under bed support, to balance the pH and increase oxygen flow and restoration of water quality.
Backwash Instructions - 3 Simple Step
1. Backwash - Turn the MPV handle from “Filter” mode to “Backwash” mode and then let the sediment flow out until appears clean.
2. Rinse - Turn the MPV handle from “Backwash” mode to “Rinse” mode to ensure the filtration water is clean. Rinse the water flow out for 3 seconds to 3 minutes.
3. Filter - Turn the MPV handle to “Filter” mode for normal filtration.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What is microns?
When you talk about water filtration, you often hear the word - microns. A micron (short for micrometer) is one-millionth of a meter, which is 0.001MM. The smaller the microns, the better the filtration results.
2. How many microns?
For sand filters or similar filters, they start out at about 40 microns and go down to 20 microns over time. The only way to clean a sand filter is by backwashing.
3. How often do I need to backwash my filter?
A typical backwash lasts about ten minutes, and it is recommended to backwash your filter at least once a week. If you discover that the pressure gauge reads higher than usual, this is another indication that you should backwash your water filter.
4. How long should I change the filtration media?
We strongly recommend you to change the filtration media every 24months. This may vary according the quality of water supply at your area.
5. But why? As I have always backwash my water filter.
Over the time, sediments and debris can be trapped within the layers of media and this may also permanently stain the filtration media to yellow brownish in colour. Hence, water quality will be compromised while the output flow will be greatly reduced.
6. What about other outdoor water filters?
Beside sand filters, there are also membrane based water filters which are mostly single-stage filtration system. That means, there will not be any backwash option and you have to replace the filter cartridge every 12months or as per recommended by its manufacturer. In term of filtration microns, it can be up to 5 microns or more.
7. Which outdoor filter should I buy?
Sand filters are relatively cheaper as compare to membrane filters, and this apply the same to its maintenance costs. However, you may expect “cleaner” water with membrane filters due to its finer microns.
Comparing both the advantages and disadvantages, you should have a better understanding in choosing the right water filter.
