My Mom loved it that I wanted to have petticoats under all of my dresses and gowns ( even if noone else did.) I still have fabrics to make new ones for myself. When you seee a set of vintage cotton border embroidered curtains grab them up, they make the prettiest bottom ruffles for a cotton petticoat. One thing is that, with a more elegant outfit, hair would’ve probably been worn up in a nice hairdo, since long down hair was either youthful or reminiscent of the 40s (hair was real short then, 40s hair reached the shoulders though and that was long for early 20th century) which people wanted to obviously move past from. Red lips are also more 40s. A huge misconception/misunderstanding is that red lips was real popular in the 50s but that’s more 40s. Peach or soft oranges and pink lips were popular, worn by Marilyn a lot. I hope this helps!
