Just wondering... Where does the name “Two Toes” come from? Mining accident? Having goat-like agility on the boulders and canyon walls?
@TwoToes
5 жыл бұрын
The whole KZitem idea was started by my son Joe. After he got out of the Marines he built a rock crawler, every now and then I put a picture of it in the intro. The original plan was to make a channel that had 4 wheeling and prospecting. The two toe idea came from the fact that a mountain goat can go anywhere, hence the goat and the name two toes. Joe's wife, is in the Air force and got stationed in Omaha, Neb. There are no mountains in Nebraska, so the plan kinda fell apart. I was having fun making the videos so decided to keep going. I kept the Two Toes name, because I like it and who knows, some day I might get a 4 wheeler!

Cool!😁 Couple years ago I had so many rocks with signals, so decided to crush some. One looked like it had glitter in it. Barely signaled with a GB. But when I crushed it had 12pencil eraser size nuggets !!! The reason why it did not blow the loud signal was it is electrum! Electrum in quartz is extremely difficult to detect with any detector! The SDC didn't even hear a 1/16 inch x 1 1/4" visible vein ! The GB did. But not real strong. The rock with the 12 nuggets was barely a signal at all! Why? There is a cancelation between all these highly reactive substances! Electrum is the hardest thing to detect with a metal detector! Several people told me the same thing. If you ever detected over a gold carrying quartz deposit during an approaching electrical storm, you will know it becomes IMPOSSIBLE to detect! Even with the p.i. it's a strange phenomenon! So if anybody is hunting where there is electrum? Beware, the silver deposit screams like an exaggeration and the electrum is barely a change in tone. It won't zip! Just wanted to share. Cause Gary brought back a flood of memories! Thanks for documenting Gary. Boy your family will have a living history book of ole grandad for generations to come,👍

I always find my best gold in hard pack Conglomerate. I go about it differently since I dredge. I use a high powered blaster nozzle underwater to break it up, then suck it up in the dredge. American Gold Prospectors, some of the cemented tertiary river gravels I worked with near the Auburn, CA area were as hard as paving bricks. Yes, they contained gold, but required a considerable amount of work to crush them. The area was scheduled to have a dredge come thru when a town ordinance was passed prohibiting the dredge. That was about 1900, and the area still has cemented gold. I moved away ten years ago and only think about it maybe once a day now.
