Or they could just legalize mdma and let people grow sassafras trees commercially and then there won’t be a black market for it at all. The FDA and the feds need to stop their war on plants. You can blame people for cutting down the trees for MDMA, sure, but if it wasn’t for the prohibition of it then it wouldn’t be a problem and we could go back to growing it commercially like we used to.

You can grow sassafras though. No one is stopping you. It is just hard to grow. Doesn't transplant well, often people dig up suckers, and they die pretty quickly. I've been trying to find them for sale. It does look like you can get them on special order around me. There is one or two places that sell them in the states it looks like. And there seems to be seeds from india that I can't say I'd recommend or want to try myself. I just imagine it takes a good 25 years to get a good tree, but I'm just making assumptions at this point. MDMA I thought was pretty close to being legalized. There are institutions in the US too where you can take MDMA to treat PTSD. Things are moving along, maybe the tree will prosper soon enough and we can all be high as a kite staring up at these beautiful trees.

Or they could just use PMK to produce MDMA. The safrole-based method is a very inefficient synthesis that is mainly relied on due to criminal contexts that prevent access to the more friendly & efficient chemical, PMK. It seems with china exporting more PMK, the method is becomming more accessible though. This likely means the sassafras tree will be exploited less. More work needs to be done to legalize MDMA so laboratories will have appropriate means of waste disposal and stop dumping wastes into forests due to having no legal access to chemical waste facilities.

I'll chime in on this - I brewed up a ridiculously strong cup of sassafras root bark tea once, unsure of the actual amount but 2 handfuls of the stuff and here's what happened...felt pretty warm and dehydrated, speech was stammering a bit, an all around sort of "weird" feeling, that I wouldn't describe as euphoric more like a slight off feeling, diarrhea and some funny pressure in the middle of my head that later became slightly painful... from what I fond overloaded sassafras tea is pretty much a waste of sassafras. It doesn't taste pleasant anymore cause it's so overpowered by the stuff and it makes you gag but the aroma gets so heavy that it almost smells like it would be carcinogenic. So I think you would need to steam-extract or chemically extract the safrole oil for it to have these "MDMA-like effects" cause with boiling/water extraction you just release too much of the tannins from root. Apparently you can freeze-extract the safrole from root bark by boiling it and then partially freezing it before it all turns solid. Since safrole freezes quicker than water you'll see solid white crystals settling at the top of the liquid and that's your safrole. .

Sassafras tea was my favorite tea growing up. We drank it for medicinal purposes. My grandmother knew plants and herbs. She was a healer. She would buy the hard wooden pieces at the old, art deco Warehouse Market at 11th and Elgin in Tulsa and boil the heck out of it. It looks very deep reddish brown in the cup. The aroma is glorious. Every spring and winter she would give us castor oil to protect us from hard influenzas and colds, and when we were dosed with a tablespoon of castor oil, she had us chase it with either hot Lipton tea or hot orange juice. That is why I hated Lipton tea for years (yuck!). Now, I drink lots of teas for medicinal purposes. If I had access to the wild sassafras plant, I would drink it every day, cancer or no. Nothing comes close to the flavor.

I live in an area where sassafras trees are native and very prolific. I have them in my yard and the woods behind my house are filled with them at all different stages and ages. Just for fun I pick the leaves and crush them to get the "Fruit Loops" scent. I had NO IDEA that these trees were medicinal. I've heard of people making root beer from it, but heard it was somewhat toxic and not all that healthy to consume. Also, the method used to make root beer destroys the tree and I'm not okay with that. I have been searching for ways to safely use psilocybin for depression and am shocked to learn that there may be medicine literally right under my nose. I've heard of MDMA but never knew it was derived from sassafras! Can anyone point me to a correct, safe and SUSTAINABLE way to use sassafras as psychedelic medicine? I would much prefer to use the leaves, rather than dig up the roots, which would be harmful to the tree. Thanks in advance.

I am no expert but there seems to be some of the active ingredient on other parts of the plants like hte stems, not sure about leaves. you could try to concentrate it from that to make something substantial. However, it really is in the roots. Which is why I don't recommend MDMA as a medicine at this point. I think it very well could be in the future, but finding land to grow trees and sustainable cut them down seems like a nightmare task. It is most likely done for other medicines so maybe it is possible. I'd like to see what they can derive in a lab.

Nobody is taking these trees in the America's for the oil. It's all in Asia and it's a different species of tree. And MDMA can be made cheaper in larger amounts synthetically now so cutting down any trees is just going away at this point. Lots of online info on the newer synthesis processes that have high yields at 99.9% MDMA. MDMA used in PTSD studies is all synthetic in order to be consistent.

People really should comprehend the difference between 'legal '& 'lawful'. As well as the difference between 'person' & 'people'. If only people informed themselves with Common Law (The Law-of-the-Land); which basically involves common sense and: no injury, loss or trespass (multi-definition word) towards their fellow man or woman; we wouldn't be deceived by statute (legislative, acts) law (The Law-of-Waters). Statutes, legislation and acts are only enforceable with consent. Research the birth certificate fraud.
