Kranj, Slovenia! A beautiful city I had never heard of. Kranj is not only the 3rd biggest city of Slovenia, it is also the oldest, with objects found there dating back thousands of years.

When Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, the large companies of the country initially suffered, since they no longer had the direct support of the communist Yugoslav state. Kranj was no exception; factories were shut down all around the city. However, Slovenia managed to rebound much better than many of its former Yugoslav counterparts, largely due to the lack of major war fought there and its quick acceptance to the EU in 2004, just 13 years after becoming independent.
In this video Mia and I stroll through little ol' Kranj and explore its historic old town, its gorges and finally explore some of the remnants of the town's industry, both old and new.
First though, just a few km from Kranj sits the Brdo castle, home to national leaders through the centuries and more recently the host of numerous diplomatic meetings hosted by Slovenia.
If you've read this deep in the description comment "I kranj't believe that!"
Thanks for watching! :)
