It's a skit but the second hand embarrassment is so much.

Re French people being mad at people speaking french wrong: I saw a video by a French woman asking French people if French people are rude and why they pretend to not speak English. The responses were interesting. One pointed French person said many people pretend to not speak english because they are embarrassed. And he pointed out a cultural difference. He said when French kids are taught the French language there is one proper way to speak and you're expected to speak French perfectly. It's not like in say the US were you get southern twangs, and boston accents and people dropping letters, not prouncing the whole word and butchering English. So they view language that way. That you either speak it perfect or you're an idiot who shouldn't speak it. So when an English speaking tourist asks them something they know they can't speak english well, and they think everyone is like the French. That we'll judge them to be stupid or somehow lesser if they can't speak exceptionally good English and in order to not feel embarrased French people will often just say they speak no english and walk away to avoid what they feel as public embarrassment. And it works the other way too where they since they expect everyone to speak perfect when we butcher french they actually do judge us and are like "don't even try" lol. But i'm with you. in my country i'm thrilled if you even try to speak english. If it's not perfect i don't care. and most people that try are WAY better than they think.

Actually, I had a nice time in France. All I could say in French was, "Pardon me", "Thank you", "Excuse me", in a fake French accent and people were very nice to me. It also helped that I could understand what they were saying through their body language. I was in a baker and needed to get to a hotel (I said this in English). The cashier was rude to me, but one of the customers, a lady, said something like, "Forget her. I'll help you." Then she drove me close to the hotel. I also remember getting a newspaper that wasn't current, and the lady "said" (I'm guessing) "No, no, this is yesterday's paper..." and I said in English, "That's okay, I still want it!" She then looked at me in shock. I paid her, said, "Merci!" and left.

Many French-Canadians are the same way. They act as though they can’t speak English, then get snooty and offended when you speak French to them.

In Dave's defence, I would have also eaten the Kit-Kat. Truly one of the greatest chocolate bars in the Multi-Verse. 2:04 Just realized that's Mekia Cox, who plays Nyla Harper on The Rookie (great show).

Great heads up know that the French might be offended when you try to speak their language and fail to pronounce words correctly. I visited France last year and most French people I spoke with were quite friendly, but definitely I could have avoided some embarrassement if I had practiced a bit more before visiting and was more aware of how ignorant of the language I am.

I heard people say when you try to speak French in France they appreciate the effort, my mom said the same thing. I'm just thinking the waiter wanted to just be a d-bag to your brother. LOL

That waiter was definitely being a jack off, but that's the French. I lived in Germany near the border gor years. Germans absolutely appreciate a little effort, but the French might just laugh at you.

Someone born in 1985, still a Zygote compared to someone born in 1947, a 75 year old who actually has the right to not eat (milk) chocolate anymore to improve their health is amazing and Pessimistic to hear, such are the Brits, our morbid glass half empty cousins. Dude you are like 39, not 75.
