Marty in case nobody said anything about frost free outdoor spigot ,make sure the outdoor portion is lower than level of the pipe. So water runs out of the pipe when water turned off . Or water can freeze in the pipe

I usually end up doing yard and house work with my 13 year old cat Ian on my shoulders. If I bend over he walks down my back and as I stand up he goes back to my shoulders. When kids walk by on the sidewalk I do a pirate voice and say "Argh, I'm the pirate from Catalina. " They get a kick out of that 😅

One day I forgot to turn the water off before changing the gasket on my neighbor's tub faucet. Oh my the amount of water that was shooting out! At that point I found out the city put the water turn off on the bottom not the top. All I could find was a spoon that I could fit in there to dig it out enough to turn the valve off. The only good thing was it was in the tub so water didn't flood the entire house!

If you aren’t going have a fully enclosed chicken range (roof). You should clip their wings and they won’t fly. Doesn’t hurt them and the feathers will grow back. You just need to cut about and inch off the wings and then repeat as needed when they grow back.

Great install, smart thinking a Shut off valve on the inside of your hose feeding the bibbs, but don't forget a way to drain the outside water supply feed line. Then drain thous lines for winter, regardless of your frost free hose bibbs.

Small comment Martin said at the end of the vid, about running sprinklers off the new faucet. Not a good idea & not necessary. Filters will need changing much more often if using sprinklers. I have a bore water pump at my place & I believe it helps the plants due to the extra minerals. An outside tap is great for drinking water for all, people, pets, stock etc. Good move.

Hi guys! As usual, a really great video. I live in SW Mo. and had freeze spigots installed when I had my house built 33 years ago. The only advice I can give you is to never leave your garden hose attached in the winter. Of the 2 times that a freeze spigot burst, both times I left the hoses attached. Lesson learned.

I’ve had 4 of those sillcock freezeless valves fail on my house. I’ve found that it doesn’t pay to go cheap, as any that were less than $35.00 would fail at the anti-siphon during a deep freeze. Two were made by one company and two by another. I ended up putting an in-line ball valve in just as a safety measure, and we shut the hose line down for most of the winter unless we need it temporarily. Nice video! Can we negotiate 2 videos over 10 days instead on 1 per week? 👍😎🇺🇸

You might want to consider renting a core drill and putting a pipe out at 48” below and then renting a trencher and using 4 foot deep anti freeze faucets. You can use them everywhere and they’ll stay liquid year round.

At one point in the history of “farming”, before city folk took to attempting to partake in a sustainable lifestyle and pilfered the moniker of “modern day homesteading”, we would “caponize” young roosters for meat production. Castrate, for the uninformed and yes, roosters can be made non-productive and were allowed to roost with the hens. They didn’t become aggressive once neutered and were fattened for butchering. We didn’t try to “re-home” them, we ate them. That’s what the farm life is about. But I suppose that’s the difference in actual farming compared to the sustainable living, hobby farming and stolen identity of “homesteader”.

My outdoor spigots have a bleeder valve on the inside of the building on the shut off valve so the line can run dry preventing any freezing problems. You may be able to achieve this by whatever works with your system like using compressed air inside to clear the line etc.
