I appreciate so much the fact that you are a real tree man and you do what real tree men do! Instead of trying to be some fake person,to fit into the cookie cutter industry mold. I love seeing a super crew of guys doing tree work the way I would do it! So keep ignoring the naysayers and the people who always want to point out what you do wrong and keep making great video’s. I would work shoulder to shoulder with you guys and never have any concerns for my safety or the crews aloft or on the ground. May the Lord bless you and yours and help you to keep putting your hooks in the wood. Sincerely Jonathan Hensley 26 years in the tree’s

@@crystalaquatica6402 Maybe from a video by an outfit that weren't as good at making videos. I don't think there are (m)any fakers in this industry. Doing it right pays handsomely. Doing it poorly will make you broke or dead or somebody else dead. My only "gripe" is that they find it easier to just run all that lumber through a chipper. Seems like a waste. But I don't know the logging industry at all. Maybe there's not enough board-feet to justify the expense of bringing a portable sawmill to the site, or bringing in a semi. Might not be room to maneuver the logs any more than they have to to chip it. Maybe there's a wood-pellet factory nearby and they'll get free pellets or something like that. I just come to admire the job these guys do. You have to know what you're doing to fall trees on residential property. There are so many videos showing people doing it wrong.

Here I set with terminal spinal cancer at age 66 that will paralyze me any time soon . I did not see this coming brothers and I was told I don't have long. As a 35 year SOLO PROFESSIONAL ARBORIST I'VE TACKLED ALL KINDS OF DEATH DEFYING SITUATIONS . I'VE MANY TIMES REACHED THE TOP OF SINGLE STEM TREES WHERE IM STILL LIMBING OUT WHILE DOUBLE LANYARD CLIMBING ON 3" TAKING DEEP BREATHS BROTHER . ALWAYS A HUGE RELIEF KNOWING THE TOP IS ON THE GROUND WITH NO STRUCTURE DAMAGE BELOW AND I'M NOT ON TOMORROW'S OBITUARY LIST,LOL. YES SECTIONING THAT TREE DOWN A 3FT PIECE AT A TIME IS SUCH A RELIEF AND SATISFYING ACCOMPLISHMENT EVEN THOUGH YOU KNOW YOU MIGHT HAVE 10 MORE TREES TO REMOVE. HEY IT PAID THE BILLS ,RAISED A FAMILY AND BEING SELF EMPLOYED ALLOWED ME TO BUILD MY OWN LOG HOME . GUYS YOU ROCK MY WORLD WORKING TOGETHER AS I SELDOM EVER HAD THAT OPPORTUNITY BEING SOLO. SO WHY DID I CHOOSE TO STAY SOLO FOR 35 YEARS ? WELL I JUST KNOW THIS WOULD HAVE LESSENED MY CHANCES OF BEING INVITED IN FOR DINNER AT THE END OF THE DAY. I NEVER DAMAGED ANYTHING BUT A RAIN SPOUT OR TWO AND THEN ONLY BY PULLING LIMBS OFF A ROOF. I USED THE BEST AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT ,HAVE 5 STIHL SAWS , BUCKINGHAM GEAR , BAILEY'S, GEAR , ARS HARDENED TOOTH 13" HAND SAW BLADES I FOUND TO ABSOLUTELY 💯 FOR THE PRICE TO BE THE BEST HOWEVER THE MARVIN HEAD NEEDED MODIFIED BY RELOCATING THAT DANM PIN ON THE POLE HEAD OTHERWISE THE ARCH / CURVATURE WAS TO DRASTIC YOU WILL BE BLOWN AWAY BY THE QUALITY OF THIS LONG LASTING RAZOR SHARP 13 " BLADE ARS #SB-CT32E1 CRVD .ARBORIST SAW BLADE. TAKE THIS TO HEART AND JUMP ON IT GUYS ! ORDER THE ARS CATALOG OR GO ON LINE www.growtech.com. 800-204-4769. I'VE OVER THE YEARS TRIED MANY BLADES AND ALWZYS OF COURSE THE BEST ARE PRICY. WHY WOULD I PASS THIS ON BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT THE PROS DO ! WE CARE . ANYWAY I'VE BEEN 100 FT OR NEAR MANY TIMES IN MATURE FOREST TREES THAT PEOPLE ON THE GROUND CANT EVEN HEAR ME YELL " STAY THE HECK OUT OF THE WAY" WHEN STRIPPING A TREE . I ALWAYS USED AT LEAST ONE WIRE ROPE LANYARD PLUS A ROPE BACK UP , 1/2"SAMPSON BLUE STEAK , SAMPSON 3/4" & 5/8" ×200 ft ROPES FOR RIGGING WITH TWO 1& 1/2 TON CM 10FT CHAIN PULLERS FOR FELLING EVEN THE LARGEST OF TREES . AND IF IN DOUBT I ALWAYS RIGGED ADDITIONAL SWAY ROPES . IF THE TREE NEED PERSUASION IN WOULD BRING OUT THE HVY ARTILLERY BY HANGING A PICTURE OF NANCY PELOSI UP BEHIND THE TREE AFTER GIVING IT A HUG. KEEP IT SAFE GUYS AND ALWAY MAKE THAT GROUND CREW WORK HARDER.

The anchor over two stems is something I’ve used before but I was reminded of the ‘Yosemite Death Triangle’ by a fellow climber. It’s a situation in rock climbing where someone ropes over two tree on a face and the magnified forces across the stretch of rope along the top are strong enough to snap the trees. I don’t think it applies in this scenario as the forces are directed into the centre of the main stem so there’s no leverage but worth looking up anyhow. With that ‘fatty’ limb, have you tried a small sling cinched around the stem? It gives you something better to get a hold of. I use it a load. I never get tired of these videos!🙌
@harrymills2770
Жыл бұрын
I'm a total noob, who respects the skills involved. I don't even understand how his anchor is rigged or how he gets up there to secure it, before removing all the limbs. I never thought about it for mountaineering, but I know that you can use a long rope to get a car un-stuck. You need some kind of anchor and pulley system, so the tension in the rope pulls the car in the right direction, but you can create a very high tension in the rope by pulling sideways at the midpoint between two anchor points. It's easier to visualize with a man suspended on a rope between 2 poles, like the high-wire at the circus. When the angle of deflection is small, the horizontal component of the tension in the rope is enormous, approaching infinity as the rope approaches zero deflection. That's why all power lines sag. The only way to eliminate that sag is to snap the cable. Assuming the cable or rope is weightless, the weight of the performer is directed downward, and it represents the vertical component of the tension, which is the sine of the angle (vertical component divided by the tension). The horizontal component, which is equal and opposite between the two poles, is the cosine of the angle of deflection (horizontal component divided by the tension). When the angle is small, the sine is small (approaching 0 as angle -> 0) and the cosine is big (approaching 1 as angle -> 0). This means that for small angles the horizontal component can be many times larger than the weight. That's why a smart man with a long rope doesn't need a winch.

At 14:03 where you guys discussed removing that branch that might be big enough to not have full control of it. A trick I learned is to use a sling and girth hitch it and just grab the sling instead of the branch. I enjoy the videos btw awesome work!!!!
