Great episode! Glad you're liking Vintage Story :) The dirt falling like sand or gravel would is a world setting. It's on by default in the homo sapiens settings, but you can disable that with commands if you want to build with dirt without having gravity weighing down too heavily! (the vintage story wiki has a page with all of the commands)

Your builds are so detailed. I've really enjoyed getting to know the game through your Eisenhelm series. Thanks for stopping by!

Navigating without maps and coordinates can be a bit intimidating, but becomes a bit easier with a few tricks. The wind always blows from the West. Watching the direction of clouds is one way you can determine cardinal directions. The same mechanic applies to torches. Place one down on the ground and notice that the smoke is moving due East. Another way to determine cardinal points is, by placing down flint and selecting spear head. This gives you a neat little arrow with the head always pointing due West. And then last but not least, you have of course the sun, which rises in the East and sets in the West. Also, as already suggested, the handbook is very useful. I recommend consulting the guides if any questions arises, you are probably going to find an answer. Particularly in terms of facing new, unknown challenges such as collapsing soil, the guides will definitively help you out. _(Oops, there is already a second episode. Let's hope I didn't make a fool out of myself.)_

Nice, you did like HS mode! I have a million tips but I'll give you one; the handbook. You can hover over anything in your inventory and press H to open the handbook page for that item. Alternatively, when looking at something with your cross hair you can crouch and press H for the same function. This way you can learn at your own pace :) Good luck with the dirt hut, haha!

huh. HS mode turns stability on for everything? that's kinda mean. (it's usually only sand/gravel) if you don't want that, there's probably a command to change it.

HS mode enables dirt instability and I'm fine with that. You can change any game setting with commands, but for this first playthrough I'm keeping it pretty stock. Thanks for watching!

It's pretty amazing what one programmer can accomplish in 8 years. You can learn more about the game and the team on their website. Also check out the FAQ www.vintagestory.at/faq.html/

@@KerboOnYT One programmer? Oh wow ok. To be fair, at the time to writing this, I'm about half way through your playlist on this game so I'm already interested. I didn't know it was one programmer though, that's impressive.

How so? Everyone starts somewhere and I was brand new to the game. I enjoy the learning process, but that may not be for everyone.
