The way you present this video with your hands gives me strong Deficent Master vibe

I was worried when they said no rolls to hit but this is actually amazing for heroic fantasy. Very easy to homebrew stuff to allow misses. Perfect.

I haven't been following this too closely. I've been waiting for something more definitive to come out. I couldn't back it so I'm glad to see some reports on it finally. Thanks.

Excited for this as an almost perfect foil for Shadowdark, splitting into two what 5e tries to blend

Did you just record this video while uncle Matt was talking us through character creation? 😮😋

Yes, unfortunately... I was so sad when I got the notification :(

@@the_dice_society luckily you can watch it through VoD. It was a perfect example of how not to introduce a newbie to character creation (Matt said so himself several times) as he told us a lot of lore and anecdotes in between. But it was definitely enlightening for those who for whatever reason can't read through the playtest package.

As I was watching Uncle Matt it's only now I've had time to properly check out this vid. Great summary. The "talking hands" isn't really my thing but then again it's refreshing compared to "talking heads". I think I would've preferred you to flip to the relevant pages, though probably that's best done when there's a proper layout. Alternatively fill in a character sheet, though I understand there's no standard for that either. Best thing I think would be some kind of doodle video, but I recognise that requires a LOT more prep and investment. So please take the above as some tiny pointers that may or may not be useful and focus on my main feedback: Great summary! I feel I've got a better grasp now of what the game is (probably) going to look/feel like.

@@jeroenimus7528 Thank you very much for the feedback! Once I finished recording, it was super clear to me that I should have flipped to the relevant pages and maybe showed a little bit more of the actual text. I plan on doing a character creation video at some point, so I'll try and show more of the sheet and rules then. Also, I agree that a doodle video is the ideal format for this, but I unfortunately lack the skills :/ Talking hands was the best I could do lol

I still don't believe tactical and cinematic go together....
@noraptorshere8206

Why not? Tactical with lots of pushes and slides and interesting moves can be very cinematic. Look at a Reaver Fury who deals chip damage while sliding enemies and dodging AOEs. That's going to feel pretty cinematic as they're constantly shifting on the battlefield and cutting up multiple enemies in a unique way.

I was confident that the tactical would be there, given the experience of the MCDM crew. However, I was skeptical about the cinematic aspect. Having played it now twice, I found that it exceeded my expectations. Draw Steel is the most engaging fantasy RPG I’ve played in years.
