I was gonna say… I’m 44 and have a Discord. It’s private and it’s full of people from 20-something through their 60s. 😂 It’s a soap-making discord. I follow people on Twitch too, but my son said that’s not normal for people my age. 😂

Never said that adults can't use these things, just that a decent chunk tend to be unfamiliar with them. Which is why I opt to treat Discord like any other generic messaging app when talking about it. I don't want to alienate anyone who doesn't know what it is. :S

Nursing shouldn’t have to be as overwhelming as it is. There could be better working conditions, better pay, benefits, enough staff per shift, etc. We’re going to do our best to insist on basic rights and that we leave this world better than we found it.

Actually, I think that has less to do with Gen Z and more to do with how we create new nurses. We force any potential nurses through an academic gauntlet that filters the pool down to only the most neurotic perfectionists, then we throw them into a job that requires a lot of grit and adaptability.

A few years back, I had a coworker who made a big deal about her being Gen Z while I was a Millennial. She was 23 and I was 27. Right. Anyway, I discovered that using doge-speak whenever I saw a dog made her cringe intensely, so I started exclaiming about every "heckin' good pupperino" who walked past the store. Gee, I hope he doesn't bork; he might do me a startle! It was DELIGHTFUL.

For those who still don't know, "slugging" is putting on a thin layer of an occlusive such as petroleum jelly (vaseline or aquaphor) on your face at night so it locks in moisture and you wake up (supposedly) with baby skin.

I was working at Starbucks and one coworker was 5 years older than me and one was 5 years younger. The youngest one said some new 2019 gen z slang and the oldest one was like “that not a word - you can’t just CHANGE words!” And I was like “um what, that is literally how language works.” They pushed back again and I was like “I DONT HEAR YOU SPEAKING SHAKESPEARE”

This is quite true. I have 3 GenZ kids. I personally think they’re fantastic. Their friends are great too. I love the fact that, like you said, so what if someone is weird? We all have quirks and parts of our personality that someone else would find weird. It’s awesome that it’s more accepted to be one’s weird self. 😊 The ONLY complaint I have with GenZ… “bruh.” It’s as bad as “dude” in the 80s and 90s. 😂

Just learned what slugging is. As fun as it sounds, do not do this. Your skin needs to breathe. Read the warnings on the vaseline. You're not meant to put it over large areas of skin.

My dermatologist has me do this for my very dry skin on my feet. Per his directions: first i put on a regular moisturizer. After a few minutes i apply Vaseline. Finally, i put socks on over it all before going to bed.

It’s annoying when people only slightly older than us treat us like aliens who refuse to elaborate or act condescending if they dare not know what a ramen grilled cheese or Discord is. “I enjoy slugging 🙂 no I will not elaborate 🙂” that’s just not how human beings act

Magnets is a valid favorite hobby, im a daycare/preschool teacher and the children all love playing with magnet-tiles and magnet animal toys with bodies and heads that can mix and match, and I love collecting magnets from everywhere I go and putting them all over my fridge

I've never heard anyone say Discord is a hobby. What's worse is, when I think about it, it makes sense, considering how many chat rooms, groups and forums I frequently moderated, let alone participated in, when I was a teen/tween
