Lisa, fabulous info. I'd like to say that you are the only person I'm supporting on Patreon. Besides the fact that your art is great, you consistently post to You Tube, and the posts are valuable to me. I look at Patreon as my way of supporting your hard work on my behalf. There is another artist that does wonderful work, but she is very sporadic with posting to You Tube. When she announced her Patreon channel, I was skeptical that she would keep up with her posting goals, so I decided against supporting her. So I'd like to put out there for anyone considering a Patreon channel to be sure they have been posting good quality videos on a consistent basis so that we, the patrons, will be happy to give our money to you every month. Thanks again!

Really good advice on everything. I'm lucky to be a stay at home mom so I can build while looking after the kids. And I only just started all my accounts beginning of the year and it really is very slow. I intend to start adding more lesson style videos for my botanical art now that I have an easel and tripod. I blame @lachri for starting me down this rocky adventure that I am currently loving.

Lisa, I LOVE you, your tutorials and your wisdom. I have several physical and emotional disabilities which is how and why I began drawing and painting in the first place. Until recently, I didn't have to worry about supporting myself. My husband took care of me, being the breadwinner. However, recently (Christmas morning, 2016) he passed away, suddenly from a heart attack. I am now faced with the challenge of supporting myself , and the only thing I'm able to do on a consistent basis is my art. With God's help, I may make a go of it. Your advice has helped immensely. I love that you don't paint (no pun intended) false hopes of instant success, but provide tried and true principles for building a business. Just want to thank you and encourage you to keep on with your YT channel and amazing artwork. Many Thanks to You.

Regarding the way you mentioned starting on social media and using that to market yourself, do you have any videos where you elaborate on that further? as I'm not 100% sure how to go about that in the most effective manner, e.g. on facebook and instagram. If not, do you think you could make a video dedicated to this topic? I'd imagine a lot of people might be interested in this. Thanks :)

I am an artist just starting out in selling my art. I can turn them out pretty quickly, and I am not super attached to the pieces, but someone suggested I should make prints and keep the originals. Is that wise or should I stick with the originals until I get more of a fan base? I’d prefer to sell the originals because it drives me to make more. Can you give me some input on that?

The $$ I saved in my previous job, help me pass though a long long period. That habit allow me to said 'no' to be a partime cashier or waiter. (but part-time job is necessary if I dont have enough $$ to pay my bills)Then I concentrate day and night,using half year on improving my skill. I was not skillful enough to take portrait commission. I could take it now.

Even if youtube never brings you any money trough monetizing or sponsoring, it is just a very valuable advertisement plattform. How can people buy something from you, if they don’t know you exsist? Plus: if you put yourself out there, people feel like they get to know you more, thus are more inclined to buy. And KZitem is fun. Just yes every time xD

Hello 🙃 I was wondering if you had advice/video on what to charge when the customer brings you the 'canvas' to paint on? Thank you and love your instruction and art! 😍
@Lachri
7 жыл бұрын
I don't accept this anymore. I had a woman do this to me years ago. When someone brings you the canvas it's because they think they are going to save money by buying a cheap crappy canvas they found either on sale, at walmart, or on craigslist. The woman who brought me the handmade canvases she got on craigslist were HORRIBLE. I think the guy gessoed them with house paint. Best part...she paid far more than what I would have paid for quality fredrix canvases of the same size. She was ripped off so badly thinking she got a deal and trying to paint what she wanted on them was almost impossible. Never. Again. If someone is honestly going to try to save a couple of bucks like this on fine art, then they are not my ideal client anyway.
