Thankyou for putting this video up. My son is a chronic school refuser. He has special needs and was bullied for a number of years before I realised that the problem was being ignored. I can take a lot of advise from the video and translate it to suit my teen.

solution, home schooling from computer, 24 hour classes kids can choose the time they want to attend before a deadline, this eliminates so many problems and saves tax payers in money, no transportation needed, no school needs to be built, teachers work from home

If a child refuses to go to school or refuses to work then they have refused. Children have rights!!! 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, just to learn draining knowledge, half of wich not being useful anyways. taught in a boring monotonous way. It is not right. Homework is another thing, so here is an example: I go to bed early and get up at 6 o-clock to go to your schools. I wear the uniform you want me to and i do the work for at least 4 hours. After all that i go home and want to relax or do a hobby or something but no, i have to do more work at home too. The amount of times I have told teachers i do not want to do the work and they have just shrugged it off is enough times to really wind anybody up. Everybody at school has/had a cruel, horrible teacher who dishes out detentions left right and centre. The excuses some teachers have is pathetic. The school system is finally out of date and it is about time people do something about it. Revolt. Refuse. Prove your rights.

Your parents aren't going to take care of you forever. You do not have rights to make your own choices until you are 18 and move out of your parent's home. What kind of job are you going to get without an education? The future is technology. You can either be part of it or a bum on the street. Enjoy homelessness.

I’m a mother with 3 kids and I couldn’t agree more!!!! It’s draining!!!! If they made it a little simpler like the kids not having to get up at 6-630 and making school last 7 friggen hours!!! And then sending home the homework u hope they’ll do because if not THEY CHOOSE that my child has to stay back a grade and then it’s bad for their mental status because now they feel stupid and all their friends r going off to the next grade or high school. It’s too much!!! Im glad ppl feel the same way!!

Is this a generational thing? Our parents set the expectation for our behaviors, bedtimes and going to school, etc. We just did it, came home, did our homework, had dinner together. We wanted to do it because it was our job, just as our parents had their jobs. There are 24 hours in a day, plenty for a child to do everything they need to do. Maybe they need to put their phones and tablets away to avoid distraction. The kids are running the show, not the adults. It doesn't bode well for kids hooked in their devices.

My youngest child has been like this since day one, even at kindergarten. He is now year 7 and complains about going to school almost daily. It is difficult to get him to go to bed on time so he’s usually up too late, then hard get up and ready. I have to do everything for him to get him & the older two there on time. He gets sick without fail in the last week of the school term & gets a chronic cough & ends up having the last few days before school holidays off. It happens so often that I wonder if he can actually make himself sick just by thinking about it. The thought of the holidays being just around the corner doesn’t seem to motivate or excite him - he just complains about going even more. He has trouble making friends but I think a lot is his ‘poor me’ depressed attitude. I have tried to get him to do things like learn to ride a bike, skateboard, play guitar, piano, also swimming and gymnastics - but he has no drive or interest. He hurt himself during gym (free running) and had such a meltdown and refused to go anymore. He complains about practicing. Then he complains about being depressed, having a bad day and not having friends. And right on queue - just got a text from school saying can I pick him up because he’s not well. I feel as though I need to chaperone his every waking second to get him to do what he is supposed to. He has no internal self discipline or drive. He is of normal intelligence and probably even quite bright but it is all driving me insane that he just has zero self motivation to help himself. The only thing he likes is computer games. Surprise bloody surprise.

It's gonna be really difficult for many to try to learn something that's not related to their interests and it grows the more the person gets lost. Try to build off the things he's already interested in; are the things you mentioned things he actually really enjoys or just his own way to escape everything. Figured out what he's eager to learn on his own usually people will base what they're obsessed with and want to learn off of pivotal moments in their life.

Ohhhh The Business of mental issues in order to pay for a therapy.....When In fact.....The child is imposing ever the parents...They push and push and keep pushing to see how far they can get away. My dad took that stuff from me when I was 14. The belt has raised good lawyers, Doctors and Good respectful citizens. My dad with the belt on hand used to tell me....Are you going to school yes or not son??? I always used to say...yes sir !!! The key world is Discipline Morons ! Proverbs 23:13-14 King James Version (KJV) Withhold not correction from the child: For if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, And shalt deliver his soul from hell. Here the wisdom that every dad should get.
