The turning point is the most challenging step, sense of relief after that is priceless as shown by ur smile in the end 👌

I got stuck between a truck and a roadside curb...literally. Had 2 ambulances respond and was horrible embarrassed. I then fell when bending down for something and firemen came out. They were helpful and when they learned how disabled I really am, they gave me $100 as a gift. I'll never forget those men.

brandon, i too have the same site injury as you. i have a lot of spasms due to a chronically broken hip so obviously when/if i do have to take a dive and/or fall its hard for me with spasms, mine surely isn't pretty like a freakin' fish out of water, i'm sure you know exactly what i'm taking about. do you have any pointers or a video so i can see how someone with the same site level injury as me gets the transfer done, if you would, that is? thanks for your time, if you read this!

How crippled is he? Thoracic? Lumbar?
@Arthur172B

I believe (after being told by a 1962 girlfriend with Polio) that "CRIPPLED" was no longer acceptable, and of course it originally applied to those terrible deformations from Polio, that do not necessarily result from spinal cord injuries. In this case I would inquire about the "Level" of the injury, maybe even an Olympic competitor can be described as such. There may be NO description for "Malevolent" himself. Thanks, Mr. Constanza.

"Crippled" is perfectly fine. All this tip-toeing around the issue is causing people to not understand the full severity of being crippled. Why fund research for treating spinal chord injuries when they "aren't really crippled" and "can do everything the rest of us can do"?

Good video! Still after all these years I do not have a specific technique down. I am gonna try this one. I try to go in backwards and the chair always always tips forward. My chair is kind of high off the ground. I notice that a lot of other chairs are lower...

This is the way I do it. A lot of people do it with their back facing the front of the chair, but I find that is hard especially with a four inch cushion. It is much easier in my skate chair with a two inch cushion, but I still prefer the forward method. :) Thanks for the vid.

This wouldn't work for those with high pain or problems with knees, hips, or any other joint. I can't get up by myself because the pain is intolerable. I take Norco and Morphine, but the pain would still be too much. You see, he uses his knees and hips. Some of us can't. Many have spinal injuries. What about us? Any ideas how we can do it?

@musicloverxo91 'liked' because i also have spina bifida and thats exactly how i feel, never been able to walk and honestly dont want to, i think if i got out of bed tomorrow and stood up it would be as much of a shock to me as someone who can stand falling flat on their face. it is about what youre used to.

It's definitely a task doing that especially if you have a Roho cushion that will try to fold up as you're trying to turn back into the chair on the way up. Good job.

It can sure be hard. For I well know it. It can sure be great to get help. But, with practice it becomes easier, each time. It's very important to be able to do it yourself and practice for if it happens with no one around you can aid yourself :-D !
