A beautiful guitar, Mr. Garland. I strongly prefer dark fretboards (the darker the better) but I could surely make an exception in this case😊.

Thanks Antonio - I wanted the guitar to be as 'white' as possible, in keeping with its Peace theme. Glad you like it!

Hi Chris, in fact I was satisfied with the sound the previous improved vid. Just one advice I could give you for best hearing your voice: mute the music while you're speaking (or don't play music at all...). And as commented before: nice work and a beautiful guitar you made!

I've never seen that shape before. What is this model classification ?

It's a parlour (parlor) guitar, Tim - the design goes back a long way, to the very early days of guitar evolution, and they're having a bit of a revival in recent years. I've done several of them; they're surprisingly loud and bassy for a fairly small-bodied instrument.

Absolutely love the build techniques you used, and how precise your work is. The intonation tool is amazing. I also love the shape, which reminds me of a Portuguese Viola de Braga. Well done!

Thank you very much! The parlour shape I use is taken from an old Levin guitar I was asked to make a modern reproduction of for a friend of mine. It turned out so well I've never changed it..! The old one and my repro are on my Insta channel if you're interested (@christophergarland1954)

Thanks a lot, Jurgen - I admit I'm extremely pleased with the sound of it. I'd say definitely try a parlour - they have a character all their own!

I really love your way of work. I've see that you use a giant rasp for shaping the neck, can you please tell me the brand name or the model? thank you

Hi Alberto; I'm sorry but I don't know the brand or model. I found the rasp in a horse-riding tackle shop - it's actually a farrier's rasp used for filing horses' hooves to shape before fitting a new horseshoe. Knowing this, I guess you can probably get hold of one...?

@@GarlandStringedInstruments Thanks for the info, I've never seen that kind of rasp before your video.

Hello Cris, the ॐ is a holy sign of Hindus in India. This sign represents GOD as a word sign, we pronounce it as OM .

Hello @Mohanmsharma, thank you very much! I actually thought it meant 'Peace' (that's what I read somewhere) - this is the theme of the guitar. The fretboard inlay is (I hope!) a Chinese ideogram for peace as well...

... although I'll settle for GOD - I'm not religious, but it seems close enough for me!
