EDB are the largest rattlesnakes species in North America. They definitely grow to be choonky boys.

I know where theres an abandoned house boat in the woods on a spoil island. The shed skins of big ole Eastern diamondbacks are in there. Those skins are big as a pant leg in girth. I don't go there unless its freezing cold.

Snake shedded skins are not accurate for the size of the snake.

That's a large EDB, but hard to judge it's size without any common object (like a 12 oz. can, for example) of a known size in the video for visual scale.

yes it is. Here in North Carolina on the barrier islands is one of the last refuges for the big eastern diamond backs. the islands have lots of rabbits on them. a local variety of cottontail that has shorter ears. It helps them hide in the marsh grass from hawks. Lots of racoons too. Possums also. all fair game to a heavyweight rattler. Ive seen big rattlers swimming across the water too. I always warn folks that stop on the edges of the spoil islands for a picnic with the kids and family dog....stay in the open. there are big rattlers waiting for it to get dark. dont go back in the bushes to pee or anything when its warm weather...

@@trimbaker1893if patients get help/antivenom right away they usually don't. Without treatment the mortality rate is like 20% I read.

@RoCK3rAD Eastern Diamondback rattlesnakes are on the endangered species list in North Carolina only a few documented sightings in Onslow County Camp Lejeune NC in the last ten years.
