Ohio in their Central Basin just put their limit to 10 bag per person. I live in Michigan & our limit on Erie is 50 bag limit per person. But we do not get those size in the Western basin. Extremely rare if you do. I would be glad to trade the 9-10 inch 50 bag for your 30 bag limit. Is this PA? If so where out of in PA? I have fished Walnut Creek for the steelhead about a 8 years ago.

What happens when you have to release them can you pop.thr air bladder or are they pretty much dead. Just asking because I assume you guys catch other fish on occasion too

Why didn’t you guys throw back the spawning perch? You had some very pregnant perch, you should’ve thrown that back, that way they’ll be a healthy population next spring. A responsible fisherman knows the difference and apparently you do not, if everybody did what you were doing the fish population in a matter of years will be bad. We all have our part in keeping a healthy population in the lake and if you keep taking those pregnant mamas, the numbers go down.

NOAA offshore and nearshore regional forecasts. NWS has similar info. Look at buoys for current info. Look at webcams for current images. Be careful on Erie in a 14 foot boat. I have taken out 16.5’, an 18.5’, and a 19.5’ boats. You need a margin of speed and safety to get off in the event of bad weather quickly developing. Always have a marine radio with the weather alert feature. Consider fishing near break walls for fish structure and safety with your boat.
