Showing off a pair of my sea buckthorn in the food forest. They were planted 7 years ago even though I wasn't sure they would thrive on my very heavy clay soil - but lo and behold - they love it here!
Sea buckthorn is a great plant in the food forest, they are nitrogen fixers and provide a truckload of healthy berries on top of that. And beautiful too.
I have several varieties in the garden, all with very little thorns making the harvest a lot easier.
Hippophae rhamnoides - you need both male and female plants to have berries.
