Awesome Job on the Slay. California fishing baby, you don't sweat, no bugs, no worms and some awesome cold water fish! Did 25 years as sonar tech out of San Diego. Know all those islands and fishing holes like the back of my hand. You did nice basket of different goodies! West coast amber jacks are the best! My wife's favorite!

I have so many things to say about this video! I love how the sheepshead look over there, especially the males, so beautiful! I love seeing you and Vic so happy to be over in Cali! You can tell yall truly enjoy and appreciate it! I am sure we will be seeing more videos in the future over there! Great people, great family, great video! I love how everyone over there is so appreciative of the fish too. Glad to see a huge smile on your face, Brook!

I love how different the sheepshead species is on the pacific coast compared to the Gulf of Mexico where I live! And how they all start out as females and not as attractive and turn into males as they get older (4-5 years if I remember right, maybe up to 10 idk lol) but I think it’s funny how in most fish species just like 99% of all bird/feather species, the male is by far the way more beautiful creature than the female, and supposedly “my god” made them that way or “Mother Nature” did, so these males of most all species can dance and shake they pretty tail feathers to impress him a lady friend and get some bird and fish booty! Crazy thing tho in the fish world how most all species still find a partner to “jizz” all over her eggs. Naturally instinctual no one taught them, so clearly fish are much more bright than we humans take them to be! Really humans are the big dummies in most senses (or all of their 5 senses. Hearing, smell, sight, touch, tasting) when our brains and opposable thumbs make us the greatest, highest on the food chain!!’ But yet most all species of mammals and even fish have us beat in 3-4 out of 5 senses! And we’re talking like almost all mammas can smell from 5,000 to 25,000 times greater than our weak ass noses! (Most especially mine!!!) ok I got off topic! I just get super excited talking about animals! My mom swears I made a mistake and should have gone to school for marine biology or became a dog trainer so good to put Caesar the dog whisperer a run for his money as TOP HUMAN DOG RESPECTED TRAINING INDIVIDUAL! Anyways back off to sleep another hour or 2 before

Brook. We fish that all the time. Believe me….normally the weather is ROUGH. It is never that smooth and lake-like. So glad you got sample our California fishery. The scenery can be absolutely captivating and the fishing can be epic at times. The downer is that the weather can be real poopy a lot of the time and quite frankly I’m tired of sighing in hoodies and overalls. To me, nothing beats fishing in Florida. Tarpon being my favorite…..and shorts and slip flops all year round. Heaven!!!!!!

And all the amazing sea creatures ca has to offer 👍

It's cool to see y'all on the west coast. We had big schools of yellowtail swim right under our boat years ago in Isthmus Cove at Catalina Island. Everyone was throwing lines in the water. Next time you're out here in Cali, we have the the best lobster fishery on the west coast in Santa Barbara. Along with a HUGE sea urchin fishery. Hit me up.

s that Santa Barbara Is.? Never fished that far north. Get some scuba gear and go after the huge lobster around those islands. Years ago I saw a guy that came back from Santa Rosa Is. and had a few lobster that were nearly 3' long, not including the antenna. Never seen spiny lobster that large before. I've fished the Cortez Bank before. There were so many cookie cutter 30lb. yellowtail, even a shark swam through them, must have been too full to eat any more, and the fish were rubbing against it to scrape off parasites. In an hour, we had limits for 20 fisherman. I won't eat them raw any longer after seeing the parasites in a few, they were 2-3 inches long and burrowed most of the way into the flesh. So Ca can have some epic days out on the water. Glad that you had a good time AND caught fish.
