I play these reruns to hear Vin's voice, they help me go to sleep..... I'm 50 years old now and Vin was part of my childhood and adult life. R.I.P. Vin

Normally I listen to some sleep music but during the spring I'll just find a random dodger game called by Vin to put me to sleep, love you Vin. May Him and my Dad RIP both making me absolutely love the sport

Greatest voice in sports history. It's 1958, and I have a transistor radio under my pillow. Vinny rocked me to sleep every summer night of my childhood. I miss Vinny's live voice.

I hear you, brother. I used to hear KNBR Giants games, bu one fateful night at 13 in 1969 I fiddled down at the other end of the dial and it changed my life! From then on I’d lie in the front room in front of the old mahogany Magnavox stereo/radio. I’d catch the faint 64KFI signal just as the sunset. If I was lucky, I’d pick it up just as “It’s a beautiful Day for a Ballgame” would start the broadcast. Vin would split innings with Jerry Doggett. I prayed for good propagation for Vin’s innings.

Vin Scully is the greatest ever. He's the epitome of elegance and class. Ask any other baseball announcer, and he'll tell you that Scully is the best there ever was.

Vin is dead but some of these guys are still playing. What a game. This is a great sample game of Scully’s later “eminence grise” style. He makes some snarky comments (for example, player not practicing like they used to, and the classic “as they always do” spoken in a somewhat jaded tone when the benches and bullpens empty during the first inning) that he wouldn’t have made 20 years earlier. It’s also a great example of his “doubleheader” style, where he was doing both tv and radio. And perhaps most salient is the Alvin Dark/Jackie Robinson story told over two innings. Great example of the baseball gods enabling him to extend the story, as well as his ability to keep all the balls of the story in the air over time, if you’ll pardon the expression. And the timbre and enunciation of his voice, trained for radio, is such an unalloyed pleasure.

I was really laughing and savoring the irony of hearing VS say “as they always do...” in light of recent developments. His slightly jaded tone is priceless. So glad someone else also noticed.
