I guessed right too but I have a J45 and a Texan and really know their sound. Our J45 is the studio version with rosewood back and sides and my Texan is a 65 FT79N and has the mahogany back and sides. The Masterbuilt Texan, made in Indonesia, is a nice guitar and I'm planning on getting one to compare it to mine, which was made in 65, in the Kalamazoo factory. Very nice video.

Hi Sean, thanks for the video. I had this doubt for a while, whether to spend a ton of money on the Gibby or to save on the Epi. I was tempted to get the J45 studio walnut (1350 euros) or the epi, but I found a cracking deal on the epi, just 521 euros for a brand new Peter Frampton and I couldn't pass it, got the epi! action is quite high but, other than that, it plays very well, top sound. What do you reckon?

Great buy Daniel! The Peter frampton Texan is as good as any gibby in my opinion! The only difference between the two is its the luthiers are a lot cheaper in Asia!! Enjoy your new guitar my friend

Wow. I picked the Texan. Good thing I own one :) I used to have a WM-45 which is a J45 with less fancy trim. Was great but started to fall apart (bracings, bridge). Just got the inspired by Gibson Epi Texan. Very happy.

Great thing about music, it is based upon the sound we hear, which is unique to each of us. I dare say my ear has always told me Gibson has the iconic base/low end and once you've heard it you'll never forget it. I also own a Ephiphone DR 500RCCE and the base sounds almost identical to guitar A in this video. Guitar B has the Gibson because that "base" sound is written all over it. On another note, I've taken a keen interest in the new Epiphone Texan made in the USA. That's one guitar I'm looking into. Price is to be expected, $2600.00 USA dollars and it's made in the Gibson Bozeman Montana, USA plant. BTW, great video...........

sound is weird, there is actually no sound at all in the universe, not even in your head. the noise you hear is virtual. same with taste smell and what made me realise all these colour, colour only exists inside brains.

A is more defined, B has a fuller sound but gets confused. I prefer A.

I like B the best. The Gibson had a fuller sound that i prefer but i liked both guitars.

I thought B sounded better but A was no slouch either. I have a Epi Frampton Texan and it plays and sounds great. I've had it 3 years now. It seems to be getting better with age. Just bought some strings I want to try on it too. John Pearse 600L bronze. One of the reps from Recording King turned me onto these strings. Check them out.

B has a better sound than A, that's why probably B is J45 and the other one Epiphone Texan but j45 as you said is 5 years old, it could be the old wood of j45 ..I think Epiphone might reach that level of sound as it will matures with time

i have a 66 j45 i bought used in 1975 for £350 and i picked up a 69 texan for £800 about 18 months ago. both sound pretty good. i have a plastic martin OOOX1 USA that beats them both hands down though, although i also have a martin OOOX1AE mexico that sounds completely different - guitars are a funny thing. all on my channel if yer interested.

I never hear much of a difference in these comparison videos. This one was different. "B" was so much better that I had to check out the description. I wish the epiphone was closer as i can't afford the gibson.

I own these guitars and to be honest the differences up close are extremely small! Get what you can afford and it'll become Your best guitar in the world!! Haha

Oh my. I liked the A guitar. The Texan. I think if bridge pins on the j45 were bone brass or tusq my opinion may be different. The abs or urea nuts n saddles work fine with the right bridge pins.

The only difference in sound is the scale length😅 Texan punchy/boxy 25.5” scale, J45 mellow/smooth 24.75” scale. If you tuned the Texan down half a step it would sound the same as the J45. Masterbilt Texan or AJ45ME for the win, both available for under £500, all solid wood apart from neck which is laminate, bone nut saddle etc as standard. There is probably something special about owning a Gibson but imho way overpriced, the value is all in the name, don’t believe the hype😅

Yeah there’s some quality lower priced stuff. I’m sure everyone would own a Gibson if they had the dough but it’s nowhere near good bang for buck
