The output difference was definitely noticeable. Overall I liked the P90s better in all cases. I was surprised that I liked them just a wee better than the buckers in lead pickup overdrive mode even. Maybe it's just me, but I also think that I can hear a difference between buckers and P90s in semi hollow guitars better than solid body guitars. Like an Epi Casino for instance...a P90 is THE pickup for that guitar in my opinion.

I must admit there was at least on this clip, not a huge difference in the tonal difference between the 90s and the humbuckers this was being listened to through an HP laptop and Avid Mbox-3 and two KRK Rockit 5 monitors. It might just be the clip or my have lost higher frequencies than I thought. But based on this clip I would go for the std Humbucker purely for reduction of 50 - 60hz cycle hum. Both models looked great. I own a 1977 tobacco burst std LP with an ebony fretboad which I love the sound of and I think has a slightly slimmer neck I assume is modeled more on a 60s neck rather that a 50s. apart from the weight (non-weight relief). Thanks for the clip, it was interesting.

I like the 50s style neck. My only complaint is the same complaint I have with my other Gibson: a Les Paul Classic. The necks feel sticky. I have an Eastman SB59v, and that neck feels incredible. I also have a Player Series Strat and a Player Series Tele (the one in my profile pic), both with roasted maple necks, and those feel awesome as well. But the necks on my Gibsons? Not so much. To the point that I've been tempted to sell my Gibsons and buy an Eastman SB56 for my P90 guitar.

Hi. If you are most into R & R , Beatles, Stones, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed,Elvis, link Wray; Classic Rock, not metal, funk, Disco etc; whitch Guitar would you choose between, P90’s or Humbuckers ( on GLP)? Thanks!

I preferred the Humbuckers when clean and the P90s when overdriven. I have a Studio with 490/498 and a Special Tribute with P90s. With heavy distortion.....i prefer my Special Tribute. For cleaner stuff i prefer the Studio. I have a bunch of guitars and recently promised my wife i was done. But im not. Im getting a Gold Top with P90s.

got that guitar last week with P90's....first thing I felt when I plugged it in 0n stage was Terror....those p/ups don't lie and respond far more to my picking than 'buckers...then I hit the overdrive and melted my own face....I like them less with an overdriven amp, the 'buckers excel there...but with the amp turned down to about 7.2 and a stomp drive(I use a Glove which I love), forget about it!....the amount of raw sound exuding from the guitar was explosive with an OD pedal.....also I was expecting some of the issues that have beset Gibsons the past few years:....nope!....I bought the thing online without playing it first(risky)...it came with a slight neck buzz on the low strings and I felt I had to lower the neck pickup....other than that, flawless paint/finish/bonding and excellent playability once I adjusted the bridge height on the low string side ever so slightly....either I got lucky in my choice, or Gibson is back!

There was a Sonic difference between the two pickups, however, from this demonstration it did not come across as that much of a difference, depending upon your playing style, FX and amp used, etc.

Maybe they should use Stacked P90's to get rid of the 60Hz hum. I have them in one of my guitars, they sound fabulous.

I like and own guitars with both. Les Paul Juniors just smoke! No Bursts with P-90s but give us the Les Paul double cut Junior and Special in the Original collection. They both are P-90 guitars, and they just rip!
