It’s nice that most of us were watching the same thing. There weren’t many choices, so we could talk to each other about it. Today, there are thousands of programs to listen to and we aren’t all on the same page, so we’re not really talking about the same things that give us pleasure. It’s seems mostly horrible world news that is in our faces 24/7. I’m glad we have these memories.❤️

I can remember seeing this show vaguely at the age of 4 (makes me the youngster of 62 pushing 63 for the ones admitting their ages when they watched this classic)......I think this was ABC's first show to make its debut in color......there were other shows that were in place that eventually made the switch from black and white to color......
@fromthesidelines
9 күн бұрын
ABC's first regularly scheduled color program was "THE JETSONS", in September 1962. In those days, they could only afford to schedule about three prime-time color programs every season- until September 1965, when about half of their evening lineup was colorcast- including "GIDGET". They didn't go "all-color" until September 1966 (and even then, their daytime programming remained mostly in black and white until the fall of 1967); Saturday and Sunday morning cartoons were in color by the fall of '64. However, not all of ABC's stations were equipped for color telecasting until the early 1970's.

The acting style back then was quite commonly exaggerated. Particularly, in sitcoms. Even looking back at dramatic performances of the era from the likes of Elizabeth Taylor would under a modern lens be deemed absurdly terrible. The more Naturalistic and subdued acting style that is far more prevalent now did not become normalized until much later.
