Decent analysis. As an older skater (25+ years of skating), I've found many friends my age enjoy GH shit talking because it most closely aligns with how we really feel and there's nobody in our age bracket willing to take those risks. Also, ever since my mom kicked me off her Hulu account, I've stepped up an an adult and I used my own credit card to pay for his Patreon channel thank you very much.

Nice video, I think the skating community craves someone like gifted hater to give people accountability rather then the rug sweeping we have seen for a long time. I hope in his success he will still manage to stay objective which he seems to being a good job of so far. Also those projected income numbers are always way off. Especially due to KZitem shorts. I have never made 4k+ ad revenue a month in my life haha. I think John's numbers are also inflated with some of his shorts getting millions of views recently. I remember watching yt skate videos or contests and sometimes finding myself questioning something or criticizing something. I'd then look in the comments and everybody praises everything. Then I watch a gifted hater video where he calls stuff like that out and voices it because he has a voice. So I’m an older ex skater, 32. I have a math/statistics degree and I work in finance. I enjoy both your content and his. Corporate selling out in skateboarding or anywhere is gross. The way the pros have absolutely no conviction on upholding ethics and just market lies to sell product is sickening wherever it appears and skateboarding is no different. GH is doing a good job of calling out the bullshit… but I think as you eluded to in this video, his obstacle now is to maintain his authenticity as corporatized mainstream skateboarding considers adding him to the fold. He can easily become the worst of what he criticizes if he gets tempted by potential sponsorships and deals to talk about certain topics and to watch his mouth on others. Unfortunately this happens a LOT in the world. GH has his Patreon backers which should help shield him from selling out but you can never underestimate the temptation of money. Someone like me will be able to tell the SECOND he sells out, if it ever happens, but most won’t.

We’ve all enjoyed some shows tho so no hate. He’s ballin af on patreon. It’s a tough call how long he can milk this thing. I appreciate having a voice against the corporate cringe that’s ruining skating. Look at his counterpart black ninja. As he aged people cared less and less. I do still check his new uploads it’s just not as hyped as it was. GH is the new updated Black Ninja. Mark my words when he turns 30-35 it’s gonna fade out. Or not??? It’s just not as relatable with younger viewers or people are looking for the next new thing. So far he’s riding a wave and it’s a lot of pressure and anxiety to keep doing content or keep up.

hang in there, brother. your words are a gift to us here, and that’s worth a lot. for your attitude and willingness to share alone, you have my admiration and gratitude I won’t bother trying to compare life experiences because that’s personal and we just met, but I spent some time in a state I’ll just call “conscious but physically immobile” during a climb out of a health situation that lasted longer than I’d like …and my biggest regret looking back on those months (not a big one but life is short) was that I didn’t make use of them doing all the stuff I still wish I did more of, and could do from bed. I wished I’d always had a notebook or a binder, that I’d continued my plans and schemes and strategies and imaginations and random notes to self. I saw it as a time I was unable to be active, because a lot of the things I saw as activity involved not being in bed or eventually on the couch or in a chair, but there was so much progress into stuff important to me that I didn’t do, watching tv and wallowing in my whatever, thinking I was waiting for life to be available again. I’m not saying this is you of course. You have a great attitude and I’m famously slow when it comes to knowing how to let myself have everything I want. I just wanted to remind anyone and everyone bedridden that there’s a unique opportunity for certain kinds of productivity when physical freedom is taken from us. story A lot of people think of Bruce Lee as an action movie star, and don’t realize that he was a martial artist who revolutionized martial art in both the western and eastern worlds, leading to developments considered obvious today that would have been inconceivable before him. His look at developmental process transcended systems and fields, and continues to facilitate evolution of different activities. Anyhoo, Lee broke his back, and they told him he’d never walk again (bummer especially if you’re that guy). So he laid in bed in the hospital for months, worked obsessively on what we’d call physical therapy, and wrote the backbones of 4 books, one of which would go on to be published as the seminal work The Tao of Jeet Kune Do. From bed, where they said he’d spend the rest of his life. Of course he recovered seemingly miraculously and walked again and trained again and eventually recovered completely, but the point is that what he got done while bedridden is still with us to this day. Anyway, it’s just a thought :) All our love and best wishes to you, your bowels, your scrotum, and your next steps forward being your articulate and caring self. Love, all of us

Yeah he goes a bit hard whenever it comes to berrics but I think we're all a little disappointed on how that channel has become in the last couple years. Also, I didn't even know he was actually good at skating until he released that part recently. I didn't care about skill because it was never about his own skating and he was obviously knowledgeable about it. I'll start this off with. You are my favorite KZitem channel for skateboarding content. With that being said gifted hater also caught my attention when he had a much smaller channel like yours so I've always liked his brutal honesty. He gives his opinion and doesn't care about the backlash about it. But fuck all that you need to drop some videos about batb 13 I need to know the numbers behind every batb 13 game. Please 🙏

Oh and good job dumb data! I liked your opinion. I like gifted hater a lot. You and him are the ONLY two skateboard KZitem channels I watch now besides the odd 9club clip, and I thought this video was honest, well put and your points were all valid. As if you need my validity 😂. I guess what I’m trying to say is…… Good job 👏

Everyone hypes this guy up as if he's some skateboarding Messiah. I don't really see it. He has contrarian opinions and relishes the drama. He's as one-dimensional as it gets

lol, sounds like Dumb Data is salty. GH actually has the respect of the core skating community; that's why he's got viewership

Easy bro. The guy puts 20-30+ hrs into these edits. Maybe more? You either like it or not. He’s just spitting data. Interpret it how you want. I like the channel. I’ve never seen anyone grind so hard to research sk8 info. I’m curious to see him on camera speaking or his sk8 footy 1 day. DD is a mystery.

@@hover_roller_balance_boards your opinion about his worth is subjective. These videos are not worth much. It did not take 20-30hours, and if it did he should find a better paying job.

Great stuff DD. It's all very entertaining. The ironic street part clearly made his viewers the punch line of his joke. Funny indeed but the shift going from laughing with to laughing at his audience will be a test.

He very clearly stated in a recent patreon video that his part was in no way meant to be ironic. I’m actually curious why people are thinking that, is it because of the music?

@@dadboard "In no way ironic?" LOL 🤣The music, the filming, production wise it's a parody of wack skate parts. You think that is unintentional? Dude rips, knows what a dope part is and has access to whatever he needs. If he was trying to do something seriously good it would not look or sound like that.

@@RealSkateStories 😬 yeah dude he pretty much negates that entire comment you just made on his recent patreon video. Believe it or not, people actually _like_ shit you may consider wack 🤷♂️ I thought the song was dope as well as the trick selection, not really much to argue about or debate since everything we’re discussing is totally subjective. Take care ✌️

@@dadboard Agree with you about the trick selection, dude rips. Also about the subjective nature of music. However him dropping disclaimers after the fact negates nothing.

As a middle aged woman, who has been a GH patron for almost a year, your “anecdotal evidence” comment about his demographics are laughably indicative of how thoroughly you let your own biases affect your interpretations of data. Here’s the thing… Joa is meticulous about differentiating between fact and opinion. He also always cites his sources, differentiating between insider information, rumours, speculation and opinion. If he thinks his personal feelings are biasing his takes, he says so. Also, he doesn’t constantly assume his audience, and the wider skateboarding community, is entirely male, which is a refreshing treat, and something you could take a lesson or two on.
