Just received my 2626 yesterday, was trying to install it on my new Mac Air M1, 5 hours later, ... not suported yet as Presonus need to update their drivers for ARC architecture . Will install on PC WIN 10, got the same board as you. Order the Tb3 card yesterday from Amazone, maybe I will get it today, Thanks for your video, it may save me another 5 hours of frustration. Will let you know.

so, how did that go? are you enjoing your Quantum? how does that run without any DSP? i'm planning to buy this interface. what I'm looking forward to is keeping my recording studio as simplified as possible. the more gear you add to the chain the more noise you get.

PCIE Power connector is needed if you are connecting any thunderbolt devices that doesn't run on it's own power supply (ie: external hard drives that are bus powered). If you are using an external hard drive or a thunderbolt audio interface that has its own power supply, then you do not need to connect the PCIE power cable to the gigabyte thunderbolt card.

Do you know if the GPIO3 Force Pwr will still work without the pcie cables attached?
@methodm2000
3 жыл бұрын
@@timotmon for Mac Pro 5,1, yes, the force power jumper on GPIO is required to get the card working correctly in general. As mentioned before, on Mac Pro 5,1 the PCIE power cable isn’t required to have the card working. The card should work after you’ve properly configured your card (with flashed older firmware) and system (added SSDT file if using opencore). The PCIE power cable and Thunderbolt header cable is required for compatible PC motherboard running Windows.

@@methodm2000 Thanks for your response! I'm curious why you're talking about a Mac Pro here? Are you talking about a hackintosh? Maybe you were talking about a physical force power jumper in the form a short like you would do to make a headless video card to fireup on boot? There's a setting my AORUS Master BIOS called GPIO3 Force Pwr that supposed to do the same thing but I haven't tried doing it physically on the connector. I was just trying to get this card to work on an approved Gigabyte board. With GPIO off, it would show up in the device manager unless I plugged a device into one of the thunderbolt ports. Only then would it show up in the device manager. With GPIO turned on.. I could see it in the device manager after boot but I couldn't get any devices to work. I was trying to hook up an egpu for more Octane/Redshift rendering speed. I ended up giving up, and building a new AM4 system with onboard thunderbolt 4.. but I wish I could have gotten the other system to work. I'll probably give it another go at some point.

@@timotmon My mistake. In the BIOS, does that “GPIO3 Force Pwr” option show up under Thunderbolt options under Peripherals Section? Which motherboard model do you have and which model thunderbolt card? In the Bios, the thunderbolt option needs to be enabled for the card to work correctly. Normally on a compatible motherboard, the thunderbolt header on the motherboard needs to be connected to either the 5-pin or 3-pin cable on the card. To get a display through the Titan Ridge card, you would need to bridge your current video card to the TR card using the Display port cable that comes with the TR card. The card itself needs to be connected to a PCIE x8 slot on the motherboard. You also have to make sure you have the latest drivers. The card is supposed to show up all the time in devices manager whether there is a device connected or not. Which EGPU enclosure are you using?

The mini displayports, what can they be used for? Is there any way they can be adapted into additional Thunderbolt ports? I wonder because on some Mac computers the mini displayport is also Thunderbolt. I have this card in my AMD based system now and working. Amazingly I didn't have to jump through a lot of configuration hoops like other people may have to get their card working. I simply made sure to plug power into it and connect the THB-C header on my motherboard to it. I didn't have to spend hours looking around in the UEFI BIOS setup for some strange setting that only a few people are apparently aware exists. Instead I simply downloaded a driver from Gigabyte and restarted the computer (not needed but it helps sometimes anyhow). When you connect that cable to it pay attention to the ends on it where the two ends are a lot closer together and it looks like a splitter. That is two _different_ ends! One will fit the header and the other looks like it should fit but will not. Take your time plugging this in and try not to bend the pins accidentally forcing the wrong one in. On my Gigabyte board it was the connector that is not the same one as for the card itself but that odd one. Watch clips of people doing this if your are in doubt. Ask questions anywhere you can get an answer soon enough. I find it helps to see someone else doing it and explaining how they do it. It just makes it so much easier to do it when you can see it that way. Also those clips help because if they used a good camera you may see the orientation of a connector better. Why mine was so easy to install I don't know. Maybe a BIOS flash I recently did was setup to look for the presence of such cards and configure them accordingly. We all know how notoriously difficult it can be to get Thunderbolt working. To make that worse it was once limited to a small selection of Intel based systems. Could Intel have been trying to become the new Apple by having nice things that only work with a few of their own products? Sure would seem that way at first! Really when Thunderbolt came out Intel was charging royalties or licensing fees. Of course no one wanted to pay those and so a lot of motherboards never had it. It very easily could have suffered the same fate as Firewire!

What does the GPIO3 Force Pwr actually do? I've noticed that it's the only way that I can see my GC-Titain-Ridge at boot time... otherwise I would have to plug a device into the card and then it would show up.. however I'm not sure if it's frying the portable USB-C drive that I'm testing this with.

i don't get it.. can you cascade the 2x quantum 2626's? in other words, can you send and route audio from the I/O's of one interface to another inside of the DAW??? I thought that was not possible with the 2626 and only possible with the other Quantum interfaces.. @@walkintheseshoesThanks but I still don't know how the devices are showing up on your DAW. According to Presonus the 2626 cannot be daisy chained so I can only assume you are using your interfaces in parallalel configuration and so you are restricted to use the, separately without being able to route audio from one to another..?
