When you are turning from a boy into a man,you are taught how to be strong and to be in control of your emotions. You are taught many things about the cold hard truths and realities of life and how to survive in this world, especially at times when there is no room for emotions. But,we still feel pain inside and have to deal with it like everybody else. Almost always in solitude because we are taught to not show our emotions as it can be a sign of weakness or it could be thrown in our faces later. And that's the part nobody teaches you about.

Before the song is over, O'Sullivan questions the existence of God, sings about the deaths of his parents and considers the ways that grief can absolutely destroy you. It's heartbreak, from the saddest, most melodramatic situations imaginable and if you meet a songwriter anywhere who says they wouldn’t munch off their own to pen as inch-perfect a florid pop trifle as 'Alone Again (Naturally" - they’re lying. The year's second best-seller in the U.S, after "American Pie".
