Gimme Shelter is such a great song. It's far and away their best. Merry Clayton made that song great.

Over the years Ive come to see Gimme Shelter for what it is...One of the best rock songs ever recorded. Thanks to Keith for the best intro ever and top five lead breaks, then Mick for the Lyrics and to Mary for THAT VOCAL, that they were smart enough to keep.

That's not the real story a real story Keith Richard says he was sitting in a hotel in London and it was pouring out gloomy and raining and he just sat there with his guitar in a room living room sitting there looking out the window and he started to making that riff that's the real story behind it that's coming out of Keith richard's mouth during an interview

I can't be bothered retuning my guitar so I play it by just soloing around the Db minor scale for the opening then I move to the chord progression Db, B, A, E and mix that up with a bit of lead and it sounds alright, at least it does to me anyway.

Keith is not a 'really good' guitarist (ive heard him say to that effect in interviews - and i would agree..not that i can play myself) but he was a really clever guitarist and inventer of songs. What are you talking about? They turned americans back on to their own music and always gave their inspirations credit unlike other big bands at the time. Once they refused to play a show if they didn’t also bring Howlin Wolf. They’re held in high regard by the original black blues guys.
