A very interesting plant, Brett. I didn’t know there was a ginger lemongrass. Should be useful for culinary purposes 👍

A really nice purchase. I imagine once you have a decent sized clump, you'll be able to split it in two to create a back-up. Apart from the benefit of being a cooking ingredient, it's also rather ornamental.

I thought it would be useful to try growing as I love cooking , I think they can be a bit tricky to keep healthy over winter but luckily that’s still a way off 😂

In terms of tropical herbs, I'm growing Vietnamese coriander, which tastes similar to regular coriander/cilantro. I've grown both Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon citratus) and the related Citronella Grass (C. nardus). I have not yet tried growing C. sativa or C. indica, however.

I thought it would be fun to try this one as it sounded interesting. I’ve not grown the regular lemon grass either

In the ground with lots of watering ir should become huge in one season like mine did. The more space and water you give it, the crazier it gets.

Can’t put it in ground of course, it won’t survive winter here ( except in a frost free greenhouse ) so it has to be pot grown 😁

@@lyonheart84 yes, i forgot that June is gone, and you only got 3 months left, probably not enough time.

@TropicalGardeningCyprus lol it’s the same old problem, my tropicals are only just starting to grow again because June was so cold for 3 weeks 😂. Also I have no space to plant anything in the ground 😂

I’m growing ginger this season also. You should try making stir fried chicken with lemongrass!
