Undoubtedly Gino is a very charming man, but we must not stop at appearances ! even after almost 40 years, when I listen to his old songs, I discover something new and emotions are always the same! However, even Gino was always underestimated! Thanks for the informations about Ian Thomas.

I've been a Gino fan since about 1976 or '77, when I bought my first album. I played lead guitar in a hard rock band (Led Zep,Deep Purple, etc) and would go home after a gig and put on Gino. Still listening to him to this day. Amazing artist!

This is absolutely terrific! We get to see yet another side of Gino.. his son. This was most enjoyable and fun to watch. Glad his son learned to appreciate what his father has done and what a huge contribution to the music world he is. Thanks you so much for this post!

So much to love about their whole family!! But this interview here wins my heart. There is NOTHING like a father and son bond.. Took MANY YEARS.. but i finally have a bond with my father.. It's especially great to see how you adopt a lot of his manurisoms and way of life as we grow older. My dad has sacrificed so much to take care of our family and I can honestly say now I have gained a friend :).. Gino's music forever played in our home growing up by the way.

So beautiful and heartwarming. Gino is such a beautiful soul and his son carries that spark of awareness, that something more embracing than the confines of the grip we're all in is the definition. It's not. I know I'm ten years late on this (actually I've seen it before but it was probably a decade ago lol). I was born in 71 and grew up with every Gino album in my living on my record player....thanks DAD!!!! Really between to great Canadian artists/singers/songwriters/vocalists......Gino and Joni are my faves. I'm so Canadian!!!! LOL

Don't forget the talents of his brother Joe. Another incredible musician. Your welcome. There's a fair amount of Ian Thomas on youtube. And yes, Gino Vannelli is an extremely under rated artist.

I used to play Gino Vannelli at my parties in the early eighties, and I'm a rocker and a guy! Used to get a lot of flack from the other guys, but the girls didn't mind! He's always been tied with Ian Thomas for my favorite Canadian artist.

I was out keyboard shopping at about that same time. Was looking into buying a Mini Moog. The sales guy told me to go buy Storm At Sunup if I wanted to hear a well recorded Moog played by an incredible keyboardist. I bought the album and have been a big fan ever since. Have most his albums. Saw him in Calgary Canada. An incredible show! Always got ribbed when I played his music at my rocking parties! lol Oh, Love Deep Purple too. RIP Jon Lord.

I should have known it was a Canon. I have a t2i and love it. Very steady shots for a little camera! I was just going to ask if you have any vids of him performing but I now see you have many. Looks like I've got something to watch for the next little while, like one of the most talented Canadians ever! Thanks again.

Agree on both. Machine Head and Storm at Sunup still get a lot of play in my house. No 70's/80's party was complete without it! I like the song Smoke On The Water, but to me it's my least favorite of them all.

It means they bugged me about liking Gino for he was such a sex symbol and loved by so many woman. Ian Thomas is possibly the most underrated musician ever. He's had many hits. KZitem search "Painted Ladies" "Right before your eyes" "The Runner" just to name a few. You probably have heard at least 10 of his songs without knowing who he was.
