Carolyn Inheritance has absolutely nothing to do with last names. You will be entitled to a certain amount of inheritance (depending what kind of situation, how many spouses involve etc and the law to each states). I don’t know where you get that info from. As long as the father DNA is in his descendants, it doesn’t matter what kind of names the descendants have or don’t have.
@Miechonlada

Carolyn that article said nothing about “having someone’s last name gives you the right to inheritance” ???? I’m changing my last name to Spears tomorrow let’s see how much Britney Spears have to pay me. ??? You see what I mean. It makes zero sense. I’m confused. If someone is your biological parent, no matter what name you have, you will be entitled to their inheritances UNLESS the will says otherwise.

I highly disagree with automatically giving the child the father's last name. Maybe we can talk if the father is fully involved. But if the mother of raising the child on her own then it only makes sense the kid gets her last name. I'm not talking about the Kardashians BTW. Just about general situations

Jeannie was 100% right here. If my SO cheated on me while I was pregnant and I knew we wasn’t gonna be together. Ain’t NO WAY I’d give that baby his last name. no they don't end up learning the name anyway. they will keep mispronouncing your name and even after correcting them they'll still go "Oh your name is just so hard, I'll give you a nickname" no I don't want a nickname I want my real name. other kids choose to introduce themselves with their "white" name, the way people would say it, just bc yall don't care enough to pronounce it correctly. so yes it is actually very necessary and political of them to choose one-syllable names for their children.

I was married so my son has his father's last name. When we got divorced when my son was 8 years old, his father never spoke to us ever again and has nothing to with him. He is 24 years old now. It makes me sick to my stomach that my son has his name. So unless you are married, I am so against giving a child their father's name. By the time my son was 18, his name was a part of his identity and he didn't want to change it. It hurts me that he feels that way. Call it selfish but I agree that my son's father does not deserve the honor of my son having his name. Neither does his grandfather if I'm honest. None of my ex-husband's family was ever truly there for my son as he was growing up. But yet, he carries their name and his children will likely carry that name as well.

I was going through so much I already had to grow up quickly from my parents passing. I was so angry and felt like I didn't belong anywhere But I met this girl in the group home . At first she got on my nerve cause she was so bubbly. I never forget how she just was so forgiving of me and never got mad at me when I snapped on her 🥺 she loved me so much and showed me it . Even when I felt like I couldn't love ... She loved me. She prayed with me. She listened . Bathed me when I was sick with pneumonia , dressed me , brushed my hair & refused to go to school just to take care of me. Of course she got in trouble. She'd stay up and wait on me just to hear about my day whenever I went on a visit . We stood up for a lot of wrong doing where we lived at the time and made a difference together you know ? One day we had a falling out & I decided to cut her off ( petty drama) I ended up leaving the group home at 18 and went through many other trails. One day months later we met up again walked half across bmore city to see each other again. Nothing was different , we took pictures , smoked fat Ls , ate BBQ had one of the best times of my life that summer day..... That was that last day I seen her alive . She was murdered at 21 . I still remember her high pitched voice , her big beautiful smile & how we'd dance like crazy in the living room 😓 I can relate to Tam and Lonnie I cried when Tam was talking. Till this day I've never met a spirit as bright and vibrant as CeCe . Dance in paradise honey bunny 😇💐🌄🕊️😓💔Cherish your close friends 💌💯👩❤️👩

My mom and dad weren’t married when I was born. I have my mother’s last name. I absolutely think it’s up to the parent. Not every man earns the right to have his name put on a child...especially if they’re not a significant figure in their life. When ur married, that is different I think.

I didn’t give my baby his dad’s last name because I wasn’t sure how much his dad would be around and I wanted him to grow up feeling like apart of my family since I would always be there. However, after 2 years I can see that his dad is consistent and adores his son. So we’re going to add his last name and he will have both of ours, if he decides when he gets older he wants to drop one/give his children only one then that will be something he gets to decide. I got a lot of opinions during the whole process but I’m so glad things turned out the way they did. God is good.

My biological dad was not very present in my life and my mom gave me her last name! Once the man I consider my dad came into my life my name was changed and hyphenated to have both their last names! 🥰

Are we suppose to be honored that the Kardashian/Jenner next generation will mostly be black? No honey, the other way around. They need to be honored that we are blessing them with melanin. PERIODT!!!

I agree w Jeannie. My daughter's dad bailed as soon as I got pregnant. The day I gave birth he showed up and expected me to put his last name. Nope. I didn't. I didn't think he deserved that. Hes not even on the birth certificate. And that has honestly been the best decision of my life. I don't need his permission to get her a passport to enroll her in school for any insurance purposes or anything else. I also don't get any child support from him or have ever asked. She's 100% mine.

so unless you're married or any really really good healthy relationship I would not put the father's last name.

The last name thing is purely due to the fact that the mother is never in question, she's carrying it. The father's name is a way for the dad to Be involved, than just the birth certificate.
