This is completely off topic. But do you guys ever look back at your childhood and wish that your parents didn’t impose their interests on you, but rather had the financial luxury of allowing you to explore yours? I really wanted to play the violin when growing up. But we didn’t have the financial means and I had to resort to following in the footsteps of her and her siblings - I’m now a teacher. Which isn’t horrible, it just wasn’t my first love.

I think there’s something to be said about parents that push their children a little much ... it’s ok to teach your children to be THEIR VERY BEST... but it’s not ok for you to teach them to be THE BEST... here’s why... not everybody is gonna be the best at everything , that’s just how life is... but it’s ok to tell them that as long that they genuinely and wholeheartedly try their hardest to reach the goal in whatever it is their doing... then that alone deserves an applause... not everything needs a rebuttal because you feel they didn’t try hard enough... they could be doing their very best and you’ll still find a way to tell the, try harder... cuz at some point it takes that one ounce of fun of it... because they are only doing it to please YOU not themselves

You wouldn't get it unless you have sporty parents. They still support you and are proud but as your coaches or as people knowledgeable in the sport you are playing they will critique and advise you always, even when you win. I was never into sports but my sibling was and I often witnessed my father's discussions with him after his games, whether he won or lost.
